Housing worries.

We currently rent our home and have no prospect of buying any time soon. Our landlord lives abroad but is moving back to the UK soon so we have to move.

I have 2 DC who both have additional needs and I am so worried about the prospect of moving simply due to the high stress situation we live with.

Both DC have frequent, explosive meltdowns with copious amounts of shouting, screaming and crying. It’s difficult to get a word in at these times to try and calm them down. Our current neighbours are elderly and (thankfully) certified deaf!

I am so worried about the impact this is going to have on new neighbours and whether they will report me for noise nuisance. I really do try but anyone with a SEN child will know that when a meltdown is in full swing, there’s little to be done.

I would of course explain the situation but I can’t expect people just to put up with it. I do plan to look for a remote place but these are hard to come by.

Is it possible we would qualify for social housing on medical grounds? Or does any one have any advice?

I can’t sleep at night because of this.

I think the problem will be most social house isn’t remote. Most likely you’ll be attached either semis or flats. Private will probably be the only chance of a detached property.

You can apply

But be aware it's all 'on top' of each other

Flats especially

Yes private will be the way to go for remote. social housing neighbours can be funny buggers about noise!

It will be mainly private accommodation I’ll be looking for but it still leaves me open to complaints.
