Help me win Bake Off!

Every year my office has a Bake Off competition for charity- everyone bakes, eats and then votes (blind) on what they like best.

For the last three years I have come second every time 😂

What sort of thing should I make to up my chances? What would you like to eat in an office bake off?

I follow Nigella on twitter and her Chocolate Guinness Cake gets rave reviews from people who have made it for others. It seems to be the cake that comes up most often.

Came here to suggest this, it’s the best.

Our work one was won last year by an amazing dark chocolate and ginger cake. I wish I had the recipe!

Have a look at Nigella's chocolate gingerbread/. I was a bit sceptical but it's amazing- really rich and dark. I made it as a square cake, decorated it like a present with a big fondant icing bow and won a work bake-off with it!

The other really easy but impressive one is Nigella chocolate olive oil cake. If you make it with flour rather than ground almonds (the recipe gives quantities for both) it rises well. You can then cover the top in chocolate ganache and raspberries, which looks great. Or for a more autumn taste, grate orange zest into the cake and decorate with flakes almonds and candied Orange peel. Both taste fabulous

Black Forest Gateau! Can't go wrong with chocolate and booze.

These brownie donuts went down a storm at my work! Gooey brownie with flake and buenos on top 😋

I've won two bake off competitions in two different companies with these:

Smitten Kitchen Salted Caramel Brownies.

Use the highest cocoa chocolate you can find.

salted caramel brownies

The most popular thing at the party (after you): fudgy one-bowl brownies pocketed with melty salted caramel.

Total brag, but the brownies even beat a Nigella's Chocolate Guiness cake (which came second)

Can’t help wondering what happened to the bits that were left when you cut out the hearts. Cooks perks?

Ahem maybe... :)

But tbh I'm usually boring and cut squares

This is a faff, but lovely! I've done well with this...

my sports club bake off was won by the baker of this cake. It was pretty amazing (the original Ottolenghi recipe)

That or the Hummingbird Brooklyn blackout cake. Pretty simple to make. Looks and tastes great.

I won with a G & T cake from BBC Good Food - it was judged by a GBBO contestant
