Text only news

Is there any way of reading text only news.

I want to keep up with what is going on the Middle East but i have small children around and there's a lot that obviously I don't want them to see.

Obviously it's important to talk to them about global issues, but I also don't want pre school children seeing dead kids...

Has anyone round a way round this?

What do you mean? Can't you just read a news website?

I got round it by looking at adult appropriate things when the kids were in bed.

Lovely for you 🙄

It would be perfectly appropriate without the pictures, hence asking. I don't think it's outrageous to want to be able to follow current affair during daytime hours.

Can you not just read the news on your phone?

Yes, but there's only so much farting round on Mumsnet I can do, especially when my child is up for half the night!

It would also be ready useful for trains and other limited bandwidth situations.

I'm still not understanding what the issue is?

Read the news on your phone, and try to read from a spectrum of sources. Include www.aljazeera.com in these.

Put earbuds in and watch reports on your phone / tablet / after the kids go to bed?

I just read BBC News, The Guardian and a few random others on my phone. If you can read mumsnet on your phone - you can read them 🤔

I mostly listen to radio news bulletins, use headphones if you've got little ears listening in?

Hermittrismegistus · 20/10/2023 21:26

I really don't understand why you can't/ won't just read a news website.
