i see a thread pop up when there are storms around but can't find one this time ...so here it is.

urgh I wouldn't fancy take off and landing up here today! There's a tiny little LoganAir plane just heading into Aberdeen which can't have been a fun flight.

Off to watch planes at Aberdeen airport......

I posted yesterday about flights landing at Aberdeen. At the time, they'd been a go around and two completed abandoned Aberdeen after one attempt and diverted to Edinburgh.

Luckily never had to do a go around, but I've been on a flight where pilot battled to land - not much fun.

I guess you're aware of the problem at Leeds/Bradford earlier?

Provisionally closed for the rest of day whilst they dig the aircraft out of the mud...

Crikey! Leeds Bradford often struggles in bad weather because of its height

It's a bit of that but also a big problem is the runway direction is aligned north west/south east...that's not great given the prevailing winds in the UK...

People who regularly fly aircraft into/out of there get lots of crosswind take-off and landing practice.
