Is it worth having tickets near the back of a big arena?

My friend has offered to sell me a ticket to go with her to see a band at Resorts World arena in Birmingham. I love the band and am keen to go, but she's admitted that the seats aren't great (towards the back). Will we be able to see anything? I've never been to a concert in such a huge venue and not sure what to expect!

No.

Needanewname44 · 20/10/2023 11:46

I don't think so. Hate arena gigs, but the nosebleed/binocular seats are ridiculous and the price scandalous! Standing only!

Yes. They'll have screens and you can sing along. The atmosphere will still be great.
Sometimes the displays are best from a distance.

It's still a good atmosphere, I've had afew tickets towards the back of big arenas and always enjoyed myself.
It's what you make of it.

SnapdragonToadflax · 20/10/2023 11:59

It depends on the gig really - I've seen some that were fairly pointless and some that were amazing - the atmosphere is what makes it.

If you have vertigo I would be cautious though. I find the 02 very, very difficult because you're so high up. I do get used to it but it takes a while and I have to just sit quietly and not move or talk to anyone until my brain adjusts.

Hmm. I am tempted!

I think it is usually worth it.
As pp says there are screens so you can see what is happening on stage, you can hear the audio and you have the atmosphere.

CMOTDibbler · 20/10/2023 12:49

Resorts world isn't so very big/high so I'd def go

UsingChangeofName · 20/10/2023 13:28

Yes. they have big screens and the atmosphere is still great.
I quite like sitting at the back, so you are looking straight towards the stage, not turning your neck all the time as can happen on the side.

Screamingabdabz · 20/10/2023 13:29

No - I’ve been at the back at a few concerts and it was worse than being at home and watching it on the telly. I wish I hadn’t bothered.

MysticMary · 20/10/2023 17:16

OK so she's just sent me this - we are the red dot in area 16! They're not bad seats are they?? She seems to think so but I disagree!

I would take those seats. Will have a good view.

Brefugee · 20/10/2023 17:21

who is it?
Some bands are worth bad seats, some aren't worth getting out of bed for.

In some outdoor arenas you can get a bad echo, unless you are right at the back so don't hear the bounceback. But they're not bad seats

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 20/10/2023 17:23

I sat (stood) on the very back row of area 2 earlier this year and I thought our seats were fine as we were right over the stage . Also quite liked being on the back row as we weren't in anyone's way standing and dancing the whole time .

Sunshineclouds11 · 20/10/2023 17:40

Those seats are fine!

Pepper12345 · 20/10/2023 17:51

Surely even if it's not the best ever it's still an experience worth having and you'll regret it when you're sat at home doing nothing instead.

Tarmaced · 20/10/2023 17:52

Depends how high up it is.T
here's a site called view from my seat or something like that & people to post their pictures which helps to give you an idea of the view.

Dartmoorcheffy · 20/10/2023 17:55

That's nowhere near the back. They are good seats

LynetteScavo · 20/10/2023 18:33

I've been to that venue and think those seats will be absolutely fine!

(I was at the back at Wembley once and could hardly see the act, but the atmosphere was great and I had a fab time!)

Pedallleur · 20/10/2023 19:39

That's side view in first quarter of the arena. Good seats, take them. Possibly aisle so quick get out
