Hoping someone can tell me what happens next as I have a huge fear of doctors and I’m already going through one very difficult procedure.
Since March I’ve gone from 88kgs to 58kgs unintentionally. I saw my GP - few months ago and had some blood tests and a stool sample and it was all fine. I saw a GP last week and she’s referred me for more blood tests and another stool sample. She said these blood tests are for absorption but I’ve not realised I don’t actually know what can cause bad adsorption. There’s also one for adrenal something, thyroid (already tested twice) and celiacs disease.
The thing is, apart from being tired, I have no other symptoms at all. Oh and my periods have stopped.
I just wondered a what it could be as I’m sure those three tests will come back normal and also what they are testing for with the adsorption.
I have been through a lot of stress (about to go to court as a victim of assault this week, lost two immediate relatives within the space of 8 weeks) have family in Israel and I’ve had some very substandard NHS care which has all come to light over the last few months but will have life changing impacts for me) but she is aware of everything going on. Can stress cause this much weight loss?
I eat really well - and I eat quite a lot. I am very active (I run three times a week for 5k, I swim several k every day in open water, I go bouldering 2x per week, I walk off road for 2-3 hours each day and on roads for about the same about, and I cycle if I can’t walk somewhere usually. GP has seen what I eat and is happy with it.
Come 6pm at night I am crawling into bed - where as before March I was only sleeping a couple of hours a night and was fine with this (though it was annoying). Now I completely crash minus having horrible nightmares until around 5am.
I don’t drink, take drugs or smoke, I do yoga and stretch every day and I am outside a lot.
Would be really great if anyone else can explain more or answer my questions (I’m fed up of buying new clothes!)
