How much should I expect to pay for a house sitter?

Looking for a house (and pet) sitter for 6-8 weeks over May/June- depending on cost.

We live in a desirable area (not zone 1 London, but a nice part of a big, buzzing second city) and I know we could get someone in for free who wants to save on rent. There is a big hippyish/nomad/studenty contingency Facebook group for people who literally sofa surf as a form of housing or are in between rents. I know people who have done it and who have vetted their ‘tenants’ with payslips and ID- but I still feel uneasy about it. I want to make sure my cat is looked after well, and my home and plants cared for. Also worried about implications for my mortgage and insurance.

If I go through a house sitter agency, how much can I expect to pay per month for a sitter?

It’s roughly £30-50 a day round here for a live in house/pet sitter

So 900 a month minimum really.

It is a lot of money.

The sofa surfers are looking more appealing hahaha 🤣

Try Trusted Housesitters. The sitters have all been vetted and checked. I'm planning on using them next year - a couple of my friends have used them and are raving about how good they are. And it's free apart from an admin fee

Try Trusted Housesitters, we've used them a few times to look after our cat and has been great!

We used Trusted Housesitters a few weeks ago and it was great.

Yes, try Trusted Housesitters. My friend and his wife do this. They jacked in their jobs to go traveling (a former academic Dean of Faculty and a former Headteacher). They tour all over the world in a campervan but occasionally pet sit (usually because they start craving homemade lasagne and their camper doesn’t have an oven!). There must be loads of people like them.

I pay mine £50 a day. I can't see you getting anyone reputable for less than that. A lot of the agencies quoted me an awful lot more.
