I finished a book last night (The Whistling) and like so many I've read in the last few years, I was really engaged and enjoying it up until a rubbish, rushed, non-sensical ending. Same with a few films and TV series lately - great stuff then shit endings.
I think it's mainly books it bothers me with because you invest so much time and concentration and then feel duped. Stephen King is the worst for it but I forgive him because of nostalgia.
Maybe I'm just not sophisticated enough but I like an explanation. It doesn't have to be a happy or neat ending but I want to know why all the stuff I've spent hours engaged in happened and I don't like being left to interpret it the way I want - that's not my job 😆And I'm fussy in that I don't want to be able to predict the plot but also don't want to be completely blindsided at the end with a senseless plot that doesn't track.
Can anyone recommend some good books/series that have a satisfying ending?
