Detritus.

The word just seems to be following me out of nowhere recently.

In books, TV, and in person I probably had never heard of it a month or so ago but I keep hearing it.

Is anyone else noticing random words keep cropping up in different aspects of their life?

OP could it be the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon at work? It's the "frequency illusion" whereby something you recently learned or heard about seems to appear everywhere making it seem more common than it really is.
