What do you predict will happen in Middle East??

Will there be a full war involving other countries? Will it blow over? Will there be peace? Will it carry on like this at this level for years?

This whole situations is giving me bad vibes and I think it's the uncertainty of everything.

I felt the same at the start of Ukraine but my worry has plateaued now.

I'd just like to know what's going to happen.

I know that it won't 'blow over'

That's all I could say for certain though

YouJustDoYou · 18/10/2023 10:56

They'll all bomb each other to shit. There can never be peace there with terrorists being voted in as Government.

skippy67 · 18/10/2023 11:22

They'll continue to bomb and kill each other for the time being.

roberta12345 · 18/10/2023 11:25

But other countries are unlikely to get involved?

My main concerns are Iran and the US really.

Israel is not in NATO, so Iran could join in but then the US are likely to do so imho.

I think that this current situation will calm down at some stage. At the moment there's quite understandably a lot of anger and vitriol and we're in the eye of the storm so to speak. This will never be forgotten but I think it will, eventually, simmer back down again, until the next time.

The big deciding factor is if Iran gets further involved, if they do then it could go catastrophically wrong, but I'm not sure that's going to happen just at the moment.

Right now there is an unholy alliance between the gangster regime of Russia, the Communist but simultaneously capitalist regime of China, and the religious fundamentalist regimes of the Middle East, principally Iran. The main battlegrounds are the Middle East, Eastern Europe and pretty much the whole of Africa. It's totalitarianism versus democracies, and true democracies are in the minority. The totalitarian regimes behave like criminal cartels, benefit financially and personally from the security of the democracies, but demand the democracies keep to the international rules which they continually and flagrantly break. There are lots of useful idiots in the west who, usually from a place of great comfort and safety (e.g. the Harvard students last week), go about declaiming everything as fascist but then go to bat for a regime which shoots women in the face for having their hair uncovered.

In short, I think it's bad; that Israel an Ukraine are fighting opponents who will stoop to nothing; that contrarians in the west will support countries like Russia and Iran no matter what, probably because they see life as one giant New York Times opinion piece and don't think war or atrocity will ever touch them; that Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran actually want things to be very bad (to paraphrase a Hamas leader, 'The Israeli weakness is that they enjoy life, our strength is that we enjoy death'); and it's much, much bigger than Israel versus Gaza.

I hope Iran doesn't get involved because it will mean US will defend Israel and the UK could end up doing more than offer verbal support. Russia will support Iran if things escalate.

I don't think that anything will get solved and that there will be some sort of end to the bombs but ultimately things will continue as they have for the past few decades. Both sides clearly want to wipe the other out but can't do that without their own existence being a risk so will be forced to agree to stop the killing and bombing.

JamSandle · 18/10/2023 12:27

There's so much war going on at the moment I don't really know where the most danger lies.

But the middle east and Eastern Europe are very unsettled and volatile indefinitely.

MatthewsMumFromTikTok · 18/10/2023 15:48

It will end up being a Russia v America war then

And it will drag into US election year. While Trump wouldn't cut aid to Israel, he certainly won't send troops.( In spite of his legal issues, I think we can't say that his political career is over yet? )

SoShallINever · 18/10/2023 16:35

I think there will be a whole lot more death and suffering. Men and their egos.

GiraffeInABath · 18/10/2023 16:37

Israel will destroy Hamas in Gaza- civil unrest increases in places such as Egypt. Iran continues to use its proxies elsewhere with the Lebanese border becoming more precarious. Gaza is returned to Israel with the PLO involved.

Peachee · 18/10/2023 16:39

The same thing will happen like the Ukraine/Russia war.. the unrest will be ongoing but our media will stop reporting on it so much and then we will all just slowly begin to forget about it..

blankeyblank · 02/11/2023 00:58

Journalists are leaving Gaza so I can see that there will be a news blackout, so no-one will be able to speculate anymore....
