Drunken ask me anything game. What are the chances anyone told the truth?

I'm just back from a holiday with friends where much alcohol was consumed. Thankfully we all get on well and everyone's pretty laid back, so we're still friends.

One woman instigated a game where we each had to ask a questions for all the others to answer. Her opening question was when did you last have sex.

She an unmarried woman, fairly recently moved in with a partner said a couple of days ago (he wasn't with us).

Single man who has a bit of a reputation as a ladies man, lots of female attention, but split up with his last regular partner two years ago, said two years ago.

Married couple both gave the same day 😆 a week ago

Man who often comes away with us without his partner, but who I always think of as one of life's really decent men, never a hint of impropriety from him, even when drinking and seems to adore his partner of 20 years said 6 months ago. That one surprised me.

Single woman, lovely funny woman, but who never seems to have men (or women) around said last Friday, I was surprised by that too but happy for her if she does have a life secret from us.

I said I can't remember, which I can't. Widowed a few years ago and we didn't have much of a sex life before that. As a widow they let me get away with that answer 😆

It was hideous and I don't think she'll be invited back, but still intriguing. Would you have told the truth?

Yes. It would have blurted out because I have no filter!
I would have been a bit Hmm at a grown woman asking that thought. It’s not something I need to know about my friends tbh, who asks something like that fgs?!

I know, she's a bit of an outlier in our group (a lot younger than the rest of us but still well into adulthood) and there was a lot of alcohol involved!

And yet you all agreed to the game and answered the question. But SHE won't be invited back. Ok.

A game involving say 20 questions like "last time you had sex" next "last time you went on holiday" next "favourite cocktail" next "your secret celebrity crush" next "do you prefer cats or dogs".....That sort of thing is perfectly normal. It's an ice breaker, Just a laugh it off and carry on

Why are you hung up on the sex question? Was she weirdly obsessed with your sex lives? Were there other questions too?

Yes, that's what it was. She's much younger than the rest of the group and has the middle aged men eating out of her hand. The jury's out as to whether she does it deliberately or whether it's just something that happens. Others asked different questions, but she'd bring it back to sex or find a way to link her answers to sex.

I'm interested in that question, partly because I found it uncomfortable and partly because some of the answers surprised me.

You seem to think that her age is relevant and that hers is relevant (in that she is a lot younger "but still well into adulthood" as though she should know better), but that all of the older people's ages aren't relevant. Are you not all big and ugly enough to say "no thanks".

Meniscus · 17/10/2023 23:27

No, I’d be amazed if anyone was dumb enough to tell the truth. Also, if you all felt it was inappropriate, saying no is perfectly possible. It all sounds weirdly juvenile, like teenagers and peer-pressure. Why does it matter she’s younger and/or has the men in the group ‘eating out of her hand’?

WhatWillEyeCallMyself · 17/10/2023 23:43

It's weird to me that you're a bit judgey about her posing the sex question but you're interested enough to remember all the answers and then discuss it on a forum later. I'd guess your problem isn't with her asking an immature question but that she upsets the dynamic of the group and a wee touch of jealousy.

FWIW I would answer honestly but I'm pretty happily married with a pretty standard sex life.

MoisturiseYourMoose · 18/10/2023 00:01

Bit of a non-event. Adults have sex. It’s hardly risqué.

I’d answer honestly if the group were having that conversation but I don’t have any feelings in any direction.

Her age and interest in sex isn’t relevant. I’m not sure I understand why she wouldn’t be invited again unless she’s boring or annoying in other regards.

fulawitt · 18/10/2023 00:48

I would have said the truth. I am married. no kids in the room. And in a conversation without alcohol at that. She is an honest gal. True friends say the truth.

bigbish · 18/10/2023 01:59

You all sound a bit jealous of her tbh.

NotesApp · 18/10/2023 02:03

Weird thread. Why have you detailed everyone's situation and answer if the point was to complain about the question?

Yes, this. Tbh I don't see the issue. You all answered anyway.

Jewelspun · 18/10/2023 02:11

Sounds like when you bump into Doris from Accounts and she starts telling you about the fantastic holiday her and friends went on and it sounds like utter hell and you cringe at everything she describes!

Whilst she is screeching on about how Margaret got locked in the toilet all night or other such hilarity, you are thinking of all the excuses you can give should you be invited on their next ghastly holiday.

spookehtooth · 18/10/2023 02:24

I'd tell the truth, less thinking. I've been in more awkward situations, and answered more awkward questions. That one's quite normal, it's come up in fairly casual conversations, with not much alcohol

oohsharon · 18/10/2023 04:30

So you fancy the man who has been with his partner 20 years and adores her and you're worried this young sex obsessed girl might get her claws into him first?

StarlightLady · 18/10/2023 05:44

It would depend totally on the friendship group. But l think it is wrong to push anyone on questions beyond their comfort zone.

PS: Sunday afternoon 😉.

Absolutely not. Young woman has her sights on others in the group maybe but your post is the first time I've even considered the possibility he might be her target. He's a good friend of mine and I love his partner too, any interest there would be concern that they're not OK.

I'm also absolutely certain both of us would be unsuccessful if we tried. He's had plenty of opportunity with much more attractive women if he wanted it.

I'm just interested in the things my friends told me. We're close group, who go away together several times a year, we do talk about the big stuff, which is why I was surprised some gave unexpected answers.

MiddleParking · 18/10/2023 07:15

I would avoid the use of phrases, or indeed intentions, like ‘won’t be invited back’ where it concerns attractive adult women who are younger than you and whose behaviour your friends clearly do not consider ‘hideous’ even though you describe it as such. Such a bad, bad look.

Damnloginpopup · 18/10/2023 07:16

Two nights ago. And the night before. It's really no big deal.

Relaxd · 18/10/2023 07:30

Wow. Younger so she must be after everyone else’s husband?!! You are over thinking all of this. She was just using an icebreaker although a little blunt given it’s bound to show up a range of responses and in your cases has caused some judgement. None of the responses are abnormal if the couples / people are happy.

So it was a good question then because you all learned much more about each other than when you last had sex. It revealed other things going on. Like this post. Come on, fess up. Why do you really not like her?
