Tips to get musty smell out of leather shoes?

I’ve got a few pairs of expensive men’s shoes that I want to freshen up as they smell kind of old and musty. Is there a way to do this?

Bicarbonate of soda might work?

Put bicarb within, leave and then hoover out.

Clean the upper with saddle soap and a soft cloth before polishing.

Put outside for airing when you can.

Stuff them with crumpled up newspaper. Put them in a bin liner with crumpled up newspaper all around them and leave in a cupboard for a couple of weeks.
The newspaper will absorb all smells. Have done this and it worked

Shake bicarbonate of soda in, leave then shake it out
Bicarb and white vinegar can deal with almost anything

Thank you!

Bicarbonate didn’t work for me.
I use activated charcoal (bought on eBay from fish tank suppliers). Put into coffee filters and staple shut like a little sachet. Stuff sachets into shoes. Put shoes in a ziploc bag surrounded by more sachets. Leave for a while.
