How did I manage to lose all my toiletries on a flight?

I travelled light with just the underseat bag.

I took the toiletries out, in their clear plastic bag,at security. They went in one tray with my belt, jacket and phone. My bag went in another.

They didn't search my things, but did pull me aside and swabbed things.

Then I packed up and put the trays away. The trays were definitely empty.

When I'm unpacking, no toiletries bag, but I can't see any opportunity to have lost them 😆

You might have taken them out of the tray but you clearly didn't put them back in your bag

Well yes, but where did they go. The tray was definitely empty and I was the only person at the table. Plus my friend was stood next to me (because he didn't get swabbed so was finished before me). Surely one of us would have noticed if they were still on the table.

When you lifted the things out, was the toiletries bag caught up in your jacket, and then fell out onto the floor without you noticing?
Has your bag been left open at any point (e.g. under the seat) and the toiletries bag has fallen out?
Or - this is what I did once - did you take your toiletries bag into the toilet and accidentally leave it on the side of the sink?

Did you put the toiletries into your jacket pocket for speed?
Did your friend pick them up to help you?
Argh! I hate this sort of thing, my mind cannot rest from wondering when it happens to me.

I know! Plus it's really annoying to lose all the little perfect sized pots I've been collecting and decanting things into for years 😆
