Too good to go

Anyone else think they’ve got naff lately? We’ve had dozens of fab ones from Morrisons over past year or so. Week before last was so poor I complained (& to be fair got a refund). Figured we’d try it again & tonight as maybe it was a one off. I got:

Broccoli
12 slightly stale bakery bread rolls
some dill/lettuce that are not useable as going mushy
2 days past date gluten free bread.

I’m really not convinced that’s £10 worth of food. Can’t decide if we’ve just been a bit unlucky or if it’s become something where you just get pretty rubbish selections all the time. How have your recent bags been?

I get one from my local Nisa quite often. It varies but I always do ok, and sometimes get a really good one. I did a Morrisons one and got 4 loaves of stale crusty bread and a custard tart so didn't bother with them again.

Three recent Nisa ones (my sister and I compare hauls...I don't just randomly photo them..honest 😂)

I've found that the Morrisons ones have really reduced in quality but others I get have been fantastic

Sounds like we need to switch and try somewhere different. It’s a shame as Morrisons ones here used to be awesome. I always quite enjoyed the challenge of coming up with stuff to use the fruit and veg

DD had a spar one and one of the items was off (stinky chicken) so that was disappointing.

The costa one I had the other day was 5 of their toasties, for £3.50 which was v good as they were all nice.

Hadn’t had one for ages but Sunday we ran out of bread and I took a chance the Morrisons one would have some in . Didn’t let me down , 12 of the individual rolls all still fresh , two packs of ciabatta type rolls ( luckily freezer space free) , 500g box Kellogg’s crunchy nut cornflakes , box a little open at top , pack of pate , box of caramel latte sachets . I find the randomness strangely entertaining for £3.09 .

There's a TGTG Facebook group and everyone's Morrisons bags are shit. Also a few people who work for Morrisons have said they're told not to put anything in that has that days date as it could be sold so everything is at least dated the previous day, they're also told to put in things that are damaged that would normally be thrown away.

2welshmums · 17/10/2023 20:51

I had a Morrisons one today for £3.09.

3 lovely bouquets of flowers, 2 salad bags, some green beans, 3 packs chopped fruit, 2 loaves of bread, some herbs, pack of sausage rolls.

All of it was yesterdays date (says 'use by' so shouldn't have been sold)
One loaf of bread went out of date 2 days ago.

Other than the flowers, and the bread, mostly everything else will be thrown - oh I did give the salad to a neighbour but fruit is brown so no good.

I've been using the app for a couple of years now. Costa used to be good but since I discovered Simmonds bakery I get bags from there instead. I've had some amazing ones recently. The Toby carvery ones, both breakfast and dinner, are really good as well.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 10/11/2023 19:12

We've had a costa bag today.

2 toasties, a baguette and 2 cakes. All v nice.

reesewithoutaspoon · 11/11/2023 19:41

Tried Aldi twice
1st had 5 loaves of bread with yesterday's date plus 3 bags of radishes.
Thought I just got unlucky
2nd box. 2 packs hot dog buns, soggy, 2 plant pots of coriander, pot of custard with use by the day picked up, 2 bags of sprouts,2 bags parsnips.

Really not impressed. All of it was reduced 75% so if I had bought them in store they would have been less, and I would never have bought that selection. Felt like I was paying to dispose of their rubbish

Hmmmbetterchangethis · 11/11/2023 19:46

I got a costa one yesterday.
The guy picked 3 slices of cake from the shelves and a porridge pot of just plain porridge. Not worth the money and won’t do it again.
They weren’t getting rid of surplus stock, just trying to get people into the store, I feel.
