Anyone got Covid? Im full of cold and just tested positive!

Sore throat yesterday and today full of cold!

Just done a test as feel a bit yuk and really runny nose and a bit hot. Ive been taking ibuprofen as hot and thought will just do a test and it's positive.

My boss wont have me in the office there's not many of us and if we all go down and become ill, there's no one to run the place!!! So I can work from home.

BUT Im worried about my husband - he has really high blood pressure and it has risen dramatically recently and he's under investigation for it with GP - as family history of heart attacks etc.

Do I keep away from him
Do I sleep somewhere else - although no spare room

We've had so much bad luck recently I just dont think I could cope with anything else bad happening!

guidelines are:

If you experience symptoms or test positive the NHS advises staying home and avoiding contact with others for five days if possible - although isolation is no longer mandatory.

It would do no harm to take precautions - realistically your husband has probably been exposed by now - but reducing the viral load in his direction can only be a good thing. Is he on the vulnerable list with his GP? My husband can get anti-virals if he contracts Covid, due to his medical conditions.

I had it for 4th time in June.. was horrific.. 1st time was worse( before vaccinations) 2nd and 3rd not too bad. But this 4th time was awful.. l was throwing up / diahorrea... bad headaches and laryngitis ( no voice for 3 weeks) ear infections... hot/ cold/ shivers.
I passed it onto daughter and she had only dropped shopping off.( l caught it on a flight home). Apparently this new variant is highly contagious.
Try and isolate ( especially from hubby). Covid is here to stay I'm afraid and to people who say it's just like a bad cold.. please remember some people get it much worse.. especially if they have other health issues.
Hope you feel better soon.

I tested positive on Sunday, temperature, sore fluey skin and bad head/sinus cold. I've been feeling awful but a bit better today.

I think you would have been infectious for a few days already, so keeping your distance now probably won't help too much but doesn't hurt!

I'm only just recovering from a cardiac ablation, I was hoping I could avoid covid during the recovery period but apparently not Grin, so I know it must be worrying for you with your husband's BP but I'm sure he would be fine.

Abouttimemum · 17/10/2023 14:31

Yes we’re on our fifth dose. Feels like a really heavy cold. DH is on medication for high blood pressure, he’s fine, just the same as me really. DS is still at school as while he’s full of cold he’s well in himself and doesn’t have a temp, so they said he’s fine to go in. We haven’t tested him but presume he’s got it too.

There’s no avoiding it at the moment I don’t think.

Longingforthesummer · 17/10/2023 14:38

So strange and quick...
yesterday sore throat, then last night I was freezing and this morning shivering and streaming nose.

Only had it once before in 2020 and was bad...put me in bed. Ive had the 2 vaccinations but no more.

I just feel very heavy cold like.

DS is negative, he's at his mates tonight so DH can sleep in there but Ive prob spread it to him already

OMG Ive just made a sausage tray bake! Surely it will be ok for him to eat...Im getting paranoid now! I'll just keep my own cutlery separate

As a PP has said, he’s been exposed to it already (a person is contagious for 48hrs BEFORE symptoms) so just do what you can but relax your mind on all these stresses for that reason. If he was going to catch it, he’s likely to already have it and be at the no-symptoms stage right now so just take the stress off the here and now.

I hope you get better soon. I was really stressed when I had it, for much the same reasons, so I get it.

RigorMortisRadio · 17/10/2023 16:52

I'm pretty sure I have it but can't get hold of any tests!

Was in bed all day Saturday/Sunday/Monday could barely lift my head off the pillow, feeling much better in myself today but still got an awful cough, blocked nose (was like a tap over the weekend) and really bad tooth ache which was my worst symptom last time I had it.

Just try and sensibly keep your distance but as pp said I imagine the damage is already done in terms of DH catching it.

Longingforthesummer · 17/10/2023 18:13

DH has tested negative just now.
So see in the next couple of days.
My head is banging and Im very blocked nose

Just rest as much as you can, like I said upthread I've just been in bed for 3 days straight!

MuggleMe · 17/10/2023 21:06

I've just got over it, horrendous heavy cold verging on sinusitis and bed bound for a couple of days. Fatigue lingering into week 3. Don't panic at what you can't change but I would keep clear of DH. My heart rate was worryingly high with even the lightest exercise last week.

PandaChopChop · 17/10/2023 21:13

Do what you can to reduce the risk to your DH and whatever you both feel comfortable with.

I had it for the third time two weeks ago and I'm still not back to normal. Worst case of covid I've ever had (and the first two were horrendous) but the worst of the symptoms were over with much quicker than my last two bouts, if that makes sense. Had an awful head and fever this time but I'm just congested now.

Paracetamol and ibuprofen at regular intervals, tonnes of water and rest OP. Hope you feel better soon x

Not convinced the vaccines make any difference to the severity.

I know people who would be classed as vulnerable, that are unvaccinated, that only had it mildly, and felt no worse than those that are vaccinated.

ThePoshUns · 17/10/2023 21:27

I had it for the second time a few weeks ago and felt just as dreadful as the first time. Came on really quickly, same symptoms as OP.
I tried to stay out of the way of DH and DS, kept my cutlery:mugs/ glasses separated.
Luckily none of them caught it from me.

ThePoshUns · 17/10/2023 21:28

I had the vaccines don't think I'll bother getting any more

Boots online always has tests, if you’re still looking.

Longingforthesummer · 17/10/2023 21:34

Yes...so quick. Yesterday sirs throat, today full blown cold. Im in bed now...freezing but hot 😵‍💫

So bunged up can hardly breathe

OP posts:
threesenoughthanks · 17/10/2023 21:36

It's just worked it's way through all the family, we had managed to avoid it up until now. All really quite poorly with it but seem to be over the worst. Tests available in Boots or if you have a home bargains they're half the price.
Get well soon

mysparkleismissing · 17/10/2023 21:40

I felt so poorly when I had it a few weeks ago!
My husband and son didn't get it!
Dunno how

Anecdata is pointless. Actual science says vaccination does reduce severity.

Urgsleepmoresleep · 17/10/2023 23:23

I have it. Think I caught it when I went on a Europe city break. Started to feel like I had a cold on the flight back on Friday. Tested the next day and was negative. Throat felt like I had swallowed glass on Sunday with a terrible cough and tested positive on Monday. Tonight I am tired but throat is better.

Offered to isolate in the room but DP said not to bother as Covid is out there and he has been with me all week. He is normally sensible and not overly worried about Covid. But he has now stayed at home to work and will give me a quick hug and share a bed, but not the bear hug I would like. I understand he doesn’t want it, hence why I offered to isolate away from him.

but bouncing back quicker than my last tine

Longingforthesummer · 18/10/2023 10:00
