Baby suddenly slept for 6 hours

Hi all - DD has just hit 3 months but is very little - only just starting to fit into size 0-3 after she came a few weeks early. So far she has generally been sleeping for 1.5 to 2 hours at night before waking up to feed - on the odd night maybe around 3 hours. However, last night she slept just over 6 hours without stirring and would have almost certainly carried on were it not for my poking to check her temperature/breathing
😳

Our room was v. cold when we went to bed so we put her in a sleeping bag for the first time (she kicks off her blankets otherwise) but otherwise nothing radically different. She's now feeding and farting away like a trooper on me, which seems promising.

Is this how your babies also started doing longer stretches? In other words - should I have just relaxed and enjoyed my longest sleep in forever?! 😅 I will of course keep an eye today to make sure she's not struggling to stay awake. In bad timing she has her second lot of vaccines later this morning which might make her sleepier anyway - will mention to the nurse beforehand.

My youngest did this for 3 nights and then reverted back to normal pattern of waking every 2 or 3 hours. DD1 just didn’t do any long stretches until much older.

Enjoy it! My baby was sleeping through the night by then, I can't imagine still having been woken every 1.5 hours to feed 😱 you must be exhausted! Hope she's ok with the vaccinations.

Thanks, both! Reassuring to hear that it can happen out of the blue (@Onlywords ) and that 6 hours isn't excessively long for this point (@stockpilingallthecheese ).

She's now napping on me but has woken every now and again to feed and jumped at me sneezing so I think (hope) just very tired and I was silly for not enjoying the lie in! Might just ask the nurse to give her a once over before we go ahead with the vaccinations today.

There's always something to worry about, isn't there 😅

Ds slept through at 11 weeks for the first time. I honestly have never panicked so much when i woke up and realised he had not had a feed!! He went on from there to be a very good sleeper, you just need to make sure they are getting enough milk. Enjoy it while it lasts!

It could well be the sleeping bag. Keeps her warmer and also a bit like a swaddle. See if the sleeping bag helps tonight. Though the vaccinations might affect her sleep. Good luck!
