The other day I got a notification on Instagram saying that I was suspended from sending direct messages because of something that I sent to someone in April 2021 which was an image of a sexual nature involving a minor. It showed me a tiny thumbnail photo of what the image was and it was a photo of me and my then toddler clinging to my leg. Nothing sexual about it. I thought it was a bit weird especially as it was so long ago so I changed my password. A day later, I tried to log on and it says my account has now been completely suspended due to breaching the community guidelines (no other indication of what I have done) and I have 180 days to appeal it. I can’t get into my Instagram account at all. I have tried to appeal it using the form and I get a message saying “Your account was permanently disabled because it did not follow our community standards. We cannot review this decision”. So by the sounds of it I can’t even appeal it and my account has now been deleted with no notice. When my friends search for my name my profile has gone.
I know it’s only social media but I had so many photos on there especially of my children, some of which I don’t have on my phone anymore because of an iCloud backup issue when I swapped phones. I stupidly thought I would always have access to them on Instagram. I am really upset that I’ve lost it all and instagram’s customer service is non existent so I can’t contact anybody. It’s clearly a mistake, I haven’t posted anything that I shouldn’t have and I only had family and friends on my account. Anyone been in this position and is there anything I can do?
