Spending birthday on my own - WWYD

I’ll be spending my birthday on my own next week, DH is away for work and my small circle of family and friends are all busy. I’m working during the day plus I am ‘on call’ so unable to stray more than a few miles from my place of work.

What would you do with your birthday evening? At first I felt a bit disappointed to be spending it on my own but now I’m quite looking forward to a bit of me time and want to make the most of it. I know it’s just another day in the grand scheme of things but I am used to my birthday usually being a bit more exciting!

A nice dinner or takeaway, bottle of wine, long bath, PJs and a film which I’d probably fall asleep watching!

If it were me I'd be snuggled in pj's as soon as work is done and order a takeaway getting stuff I normally wouldn't when the family are here (Thai curry and something with lots of coconut as DH can't have this and the kids don't like it). I'd have some cider and watch a prepicked film (so I don't waste the whole evening picking something to watch!).
I realise this doesn't sound exciting but I never get the house to myself on an evening so it would be nice to relax.

I'd also turn every light in the house off as I like sitting in the dark but the rest of the inhabitants apparently like to see where they are going!

As above. Whatever I wanted, within the parameters. I usually just treat myself anyway and we don’t do much, it’s more a day for ME although I too usually work. I’d prep my favourite mea or buy in, or take myself to a special place locally. Not so great if you can’t drink but you can still eat a few special things and do something nice!

Totally agree with PJs and a takeaway I wouldn't normally buy!

I'd probably stay home. If you don't usually have it all to yourself it can be a real treat.

Takeaway, doubt you can have alcohol if on call, nice film etc.

Home from work and a nice bubble bath with candles and my book. Then into pjs and a takeaway for tea. Finally into bed to watch whatever I want without DH moaning!
