Going on holiday with dogs

I want to go on holiday with my dh and our dogs to Europe next summer.

For anyone who’s travelled with their pets where did you find was dog friendly and you’d recommend going to?

We never ventured further than Ireland or Scotland with ours. Fabulous holidays with walks, beaches & pubs. My friend was a regular to France with her Vizla but has sworn never to go abroad with them again after a faff last year. She used to visit several times a year, Alsace region mainly and loved it, the pictures always looked lovely and eating good cheese with a nice red after walking is my idea of heaven.

Do you know what made it a faff - paperwork beforehand or when actually out there?

We’ve been doing the UK for a number of years now and wanting to broaden our visits.

Im thinking gite with pool and amenities to walk to.

People I know took dogs to France and Switzerland this summer. They recommended a Facebook group that tells you where the cheapest places are to use the vets.

We drive down to the Dolomites each year with our two dogs, it's a very long drive but we stop in Germany for a night on the way.
It is a faff taking your dogs into Europe, more so bringing them back in but it depends how important it is to you to have your dogs with you!
One of mine is quite an anxious dog and I couldn't bear to leave him with someone else whilst I enjoyed myself on holiday ...I know that sounds weird! But the extra cost and effort is worth it for us
