If you were me, you would go...?

I am meeting up with my mum the last week in October in Central London, this is half term for us, but might not be for other places.

I want to take her somewhere for lunch with 11 year old DS

But where, please can you give me suggestions, there are no allergies or intolerances.

Spoken to DS but not mum yet, what we have come up with between us is foods we dont want.

  1. No Nandos/KFC type places
  2. No burger/pub like places
  3. No Tapas
  4. No Indian
  5. No Mexican

places DS really likes

  1. Chinese
  2. Sushi

Other things, geography wise I have to assume is going to be near the Lego Store in Leicester Square, but might be slightly further way, I am not a massive fan of the tube, so would prefer walking distance, but with Ma, tube might be necessary, so will suck it up, Price wise not stupidly expensive but would like to treat her, I dont know London brilliantly and get lost in my own flat, but have a shit ton of apps to avoid this now. I think I am near China town? Not seeing a show or anything.

Chinatown starts opposite the Lego store. The red lines are the general area of China town but it does extend further!

Do you want to see a show? Last time I was in central I walked up to the box office of one theatre and asked if they had any spare seats for that evening. Got a really good seat for about 60% off.

There's an Angus steakhouse just the other side of LSq, and a TGI fridays. Both are a bit generic but family friendly.
There's a Gordon Ramsay burger joint nearby, I'll try to remember the name!

China Town, literally a stones throw from the Lego Store x

I dont think it is in our plans, yet, but thank you for suggesting it, Mum loves a show, so it might be worth considering. I refuse to go to TGI Friday's when they got rid of the Bloody Mary cocktail. ;)

If anyone has any suggestions for restaurants in China town, that would be great, DS has hollow legs, so I need to make sure he is filled.

Flesh and Buns in Covent Garden is worth checking out, Japanese.

You have so much choice round there!
You could try BAO soho, delicious, fun, casual seating. Or Bone Daddies is Ramen type Japanese.
Bocca di Lupo is excellent Italian if you wanted something a bit more upmarket and you could pop across the road to their ice cream shop, Gelupo, for pudding afterwards.
Brasserie Zedel is a beautiful, impressive room with choice of great value set menus (French).

Id avoid anywhere on Leicester Sq itself…

If you want to do Chinatown you could just wonder down Gerrard St and choose from the many restaurants and have dim sum.

Lovely, thank you so much, I am happily writing these down, for places to show DS and mum, I am appalling bad at adulting in London, something about it makes me 15 year old and unable to do anything, I think I am stuck in that phase forever now.
