Been putting rubbish in the wrong bin

I moved areas and previously lived in a flat where I just had to put my rubbish down a chute. I’ve gotten the recycling bin and general rubbish bin totally confused. I had a chart to show which bins were for what and still got mixed up. The recycling bin is full of normal rubbish. I don’t know what to do. Will they take it?

No. You will need to swop the rubbish over.
Here, they put a tag on your bin stating why it wasn’t emptied

No they won't empty a bin that doesn't have the correct items in it. You'll need to empty and swap the contents

No they won't take it. What have you found difficult? It shouldn't be confusing.

did not your block of flats have a paladin or similar where you were meant to put recycling.
the rubbish chutes are usually just for standard household rubbish, ie non-recyclables.
anyway you must make sure to separate it properly from now on, or the bins will not be emptied, and fines could ensue.
remember not to bag any recycling, no plastic bags in that bin.

Like others have said, you've got to empty them and swap the contents over.

I had to do this much to dh entertainment. I spent 28 years of my life in one county where the green bin was recycling and then we moved to his hometown last year which is under a different county council, the general waste is green and recycling is blue. I just auto piloted it, luckily I'd only half filled the recycling with general waste so was able to lift the bin bags out. Thankfully ive not made the mistake since and I doubt you will.

Just swap it into the correct bin because they definitely won't take it the bin lorrys drop of to the tip to the right recycling sections. So other rubbish contaminates it.
