Old lateral flow tests

Anyone know if old lateral flow tests are likely to pick up on current COVID variants? Still have tests from 2021, they have no expiry date that I can see (but have lost original leaflet that came with them). Some people have told me they don't think they might pick up more recent variants.
Any thoughts?

My partner was told by the practice nurse that left doesn't pick up the new variant. Certainly didn't pick up her recent and very debilitating bout.

DH used one last week and it showed a very quick and very strong positive.

DH & I have both used old ones in the last couple of weeks and got strong positives and I'm almost certain my variant was the new one as I had a lot of the symptoms.

I did use 2 of the liquids for one test though as there didn't seem to be enough

Ok thanks for the replies, useful to know that some of you have had old tests show positive recently.
Not sure how a practice nurse would know that lateral flow tests don't detect newer viruses. I would think there would be evidence based knowledge known in the public domain if that was actually the case, rather than speculation.

Most of the test liquid will have evaporated. You should get new tests.

Your tests will have an expiry date. I have some here that were delivered earlier this year that expire at the end of this month. It’s on the outer box but I think it may also be on the foil pack.

I have heard that swabbing nose only may not be as effective and that it’s best to swab throat and nose, but that’s not official info (HCP)
