Mattress Advice

3 years ago we bought a Tempur Elite (medium) memory foam mattress and it cost us a lot of money. But we were willing to pay, because we felt that good sleep was worth it.

The Tempur was COSY and COMFORTABLE, but every morning I have woken up with a bad lower back; aching shoulders and aching hip. I also frequently got headaches and neck aches.

Things got to a head and we decided we couldn’t do this anymore and need pain free sleep. So we bought another mattress from Dreams, that is firm and pocket sprung with a cushion top. Not as pricy as the Tempur but still expensive.

Two nights in, I wake up PAIN FREE, but it does not feel cosy or comfortable to me. I sleep well on it, but I don’t want to stay snuggled up in it in the morning.

Is there a mattress that would do both? I want to be pain free, but I also want to be cosy.

Try a mattress topper. Dh due to back problems needs a hard mattress and while I slept OK on it i also need cosy and comfortable. The topper did this.

Possibly. I didn’t even think of these, forgot they exist. It’s definitely worth a try thank you.

Let me know how you get on as I really fancy one of them.

I'm also thinking about a topper. Be great to get your opinion.

Just got back from Dunelm and I purchased the forever full mattress topper as they had limited stock of toppers in our bed size.

Have put it onto the bed and it’s definitely given the mattress the ‘coziness’ I was looking for. It has a much warmer and snugglier feel.

It hasn’t really ‘softened’ the mattress though, which my husband was happy about, as he needs the firmness for his back, as do I really. But I almost feel as if I could do with an inch or two of memory foam underneath the topper. Perhaps that’s just because it’s what I’ve been used to.

Anyway, going to see how the topper fares tonight and will update tomorrow.
