We are visiting Ponds Forge for an event on the 4th November. We are parking in Blonk St Car Park. After the event we want to go to the Fireworks/lights thing at the Botanical Gardens.

It looks like it's too far to walk, where could we park near the Botanical Gardens and will it be nightmarishly busy? Should we pre book parking? Are there places to eat nearby?

Loads of places to eat on Ecclesall Road. I'd probably get a taxi or bus from town and back, parking round the Botanical Gardens is awkward even when there are no events on. There is a carpark in Berkley Precinct opposite the Ecclesall Road entrance, it's not huge though.

I would also get a taxi or bus, then walk to Ecclesall Road to eat, and bus back.

It's a good 2 mile walk across town and out down Ecclesall Road.
You could grab a taxi there and back, or there are buses going that way.
Parking is a bit hit and miss, especially in busy times. It's on street but a lot of side streets are residents only and many of them have time restrictions.

You could walk from Ponds forge to the bus Interchange ( 5 mins walk) and catch the 272 bus up Ecclesall Road. Loads of places to eat on there. Then bus back down (not all buses go to the interchange though. You'd have to get off elsewhere and walk back to PF - bus driver will tell you the best place to get off I'm sure.
Have fun!

Great so sounds like bus/taxi is the way to go. Are we going to be ok walking from the bus stop to Blonk Street car park after the event? We have been to Ponds Forge a few times for sporting events and have found its possibly not in the nicest bit of the city.

I know Sheffield very well and stayed in a hotel there a few months ago near Blonk Street. It looks dodgier than it is! But take a taxi if you’re worried.

I'm sure it'll be fine. Its quite busy and central. I assumed you'd be parking at PF. You could still walk from PF to the interchange and get the bus up. Then one of the 80's back into town - walk back to car park.

If you arrive at the Botanical Gardens after 3. 30pm 4pm time, there's usually space on Collegiate Crescent (off Ecclesall Road)when students have left. Berkley Precinct on Ecclesall Road, but gets busy & time is limited I think..
You could try Clarke house Road at the top end of Botanical Gardens but there may be restrictions for the event.
Parking in side roads anywhere in the area is hit & miss depending on time & restrictions.
Good luck & enjoy. We went last year & it was brilliant.

personally I’d drive and park on ecclesall road or a side street (quite a few side streets are ticketed too and they all use the PayByPhone app. If on or around ecclesall road you have to pay for parking up till 8.30. There are loads of places to eat on ecclesall road- what sort of stuff do you like? There are also a few food stalls in illuminate the gardens but the queues are pretty big.

Thanks everyone I've found a parking spot on Just Park thats a 15 minute walk from the Botanical Gardens and seems to be near some places to eat on Eccleshall Road so thanks everyone for the tips

I live nearby. The side roads off eccleshall road will be slammed when illuminate is on. I would park in sharrow vale (one of the side roads) and walk to botanical from there (5 mins). Either cut down hickmott road or frog walk.
