Buying a new laptop question

My laptop is completely broken. It’s been a long time coming, but I’ve been waiting until Black Friday and hoping it would hold out until then.

Is it worth waiting until Black Friday to get a new one? I remember I saved about £100 last time. I could just about go without one for a month or so.

Already replaced a few parts etc over the past year but it’s well and truly over now.

What do you use it for? It just web, photos, etc would a Chromebook work?

Yeah mainly web and photos, watching films etc. I need to apply for some jobs soon as well so I’ll need to use Word at some point.

Can you use Word (or Google Docs) in the browser? Work ok for moderate formatting. Chromebooks have a lot going for them (cost/power ratio, low maintenance, long battery life, rapid power on). But you need to be part of thebl Google ecosystem and/or do mainly browser based stuff.

To your original question, I think there are always bargains to be had especially if you aim for technology which is not leading edge or this year's model.
