Anyone been to Llangollen - what do you recommend?

If anyone has visited Llangollen, what do you recommend doing? We stopped off there briefly for an hour a couple of years ago and I can remember getting a nice pastry from a shop and the canal. I think we'll walk part of the canal, but looking for others options as well.

Castell Dinas Bran is a lovely walk with amazing views. Walking along the canal to the aquaduct is also great. There is a train you can catch to Corwen or Carrog. The food festival is on tomorrow if that is when you are planning to go.

Canal boat? Drive over horseshoe pass?

The viaduct
The Ladies of Llangollen House (Plas Newydd) is amazing

Horse drawn boat along canal

Drive over the Horseshoe Pass for spectacular views

Viaduct at Trevor / Pontcyscyllte (spelling?)

Chirk castle is pretty good for a National Trust member and sits by Offa's Dyke

Thanks for your replies. We're certainly up for walking and scenery. Will also look at Chirk Castle and The Ladies of Llangollen for something else to do.

Pontscyllte (can’t spell it) aqueduct is a must. If you fancy a decent walk, from there to Chirk aqueduct is amazing and you go through a half mile tunnel too.

We stayed in Chirk but visited Llangollen a few times. We went to Chester from there which is always worth a visit and Crosby beach to see the Anthony Gormley statues. Also unforgettable.

Did love Chirk castle and there is a walk above Llangollen which is lovely.
