What popular tv shows could you not get into, despite really wanting to like?

Stranger things is just my sort of thing, yet despite how many times I tried to give it a go, I just could not get into it

Succession and The Sopranos

I also couldn't get on with Breaking Bad or Schitts Creek but wouldn't say I really wanted to like them. Tried them and they didn't do it for me.

Motherland. It was so unfunny, and all the characters were annoying.

Same

BeReet · 14/10/2023 12:12

Friends - I watched a couple of episodes, but I just don't like or care about any of them
Killing Eve - started it but lost interest quickly
Lost - totally lost interest part way through season one, and given the furore over the crappy ending many years later, I'm glad that I didn't waste too much time on it.

For me, the thing with a lot of the American imports is that they just go on for far too long, getting more and more implausible until, as viewers, we just finally throw our hands up in exasperation and give up

Oh, and Grey's Anatomy. I tried but didn't care about any of the characters. I can't believe it's still on.

Rosiesmydog · 14/10/2023 12:23

Sex in the city
Schitts Creek
Succession
the Sopranos
…apparently any American tv series that begins with S it would seem!!

also - used to love Quantum leap back in the day but watched the new remake - OMG full of virtue signalling crap - especially the one where the trans girl wanted to play on the girls team 🤯

diamondpony80 · 14/10/2023 12:24

Game of Thrones
Schitts Creek
Succession

Yellowstone. Really annoying cos there’s loads of it and it could me going for ages if I could just enjoy it. I love westerns/cowboy/Native American stuff too.

Have you tried Longmire?
The TV series deviate from the books almost immediately but both are good imo.

NoraLuka · 14/10/2023 12:43

Game of thrones. I really wanted to watch it but I always skipped any violent bits so in some episodes that just left the start and end credits!

littleburn · 14/10/2023 12:44

Breaking Bad
Succession
Killing Eve

Xtraincome · 14/10/2023 12:46

Watched about 10 minutes of Friends, but couldn't believe how dull it was. So boring and obvious.

CornishGem1975 · 14/10/2023 12:49

Perhaps I'll give Happy Valley a go then @StasisMom

vertigomuch · 14/10/2023 12:52

Even if you don't like Yellowstone don't write off 1883 or 1923.... 1883 is brilliant!
Harrison ford and Helen mirran is 1923 are fabulous!

We could get into Schitts creek. Didn't find it funny at all. Gave up after a few episodes.

Go on! Hope you like it... Warning: it's pretty dark.

dressedforcomfort · 14/10/2023 12:59

Schitts Creek - watched 4 episodes and didn't laugh once

CornishGem1975 · 14/10/2023 13:01

@StasisMom So am I ConfusedGrin

YouJustDoYou · 14/10/2023 13:03

Sex and the City. Hated hated hated it.

canihaveonetoo · 14/10/2023 13:04

Game of Thrones

Tessisme · 14/10/2023 13:06

Killing Eve for me too. I was beginning to think there was something wrong with me for not liking it!

The Fall

Gavin and Stacey

Dr Who

I couldn't get along with 'Peaky Blinders' at all and had a couple of false starts. But for some reason I decided to persevere and tried again and ended up loving it. Not keen on the mindless violence though.

Yellowstone
Peaky Blinders
The Witcher

PinkyDinkyDoodle · 14/10/2023 13:10

I thought I was going to agree with all of the above until someone mentioned Doctor Who.

PinkyDinkyDoodle · 14/10/2023 13:11

…now I’m off to watch David Tennant whooping Anthony Head’s Krillitane arse.

crunchypeanutbutterontoast · 14/10/2023 13:12

I loved quite a few mentioned, but agree with all who’ve said Breaking Bad. Only got 3 episodes in - but it was so bleak, just couldn’t continue.
