Switch not charging?

My child hasn't used her switch for a few months probably.

I have put it on charge and no icon is coming on? No light?

Has this happened to anyone else? Will it start charging eventually?!

Might be that it's just been dead so for long it needs a bit of time, leave it charging a few hours, even if it doesn't look as though it's charging I might actually be, unplug and plug back in, if no change, check the charging port and charger, they might need a clean. If still nothing, perhaps look at replacing the battery although I'm not even sure you can on a Switch. Highly likely it's the first issue, most things need a while to charge from "dead for months"

Are you using the charger it came with? This happened to me and it wouldn’t charge with any other charger. Had to be the Nintendo one x

Yes using the charger it came with.

Ok I'll leave it in. She wants to have it for tomorrow when we're in the car 😭

There's some instructions here about doing a hard restart... https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/aid/22502/~/the-console-has-no-power%2C-has-a-blank-screen%2C-or-wont-wake-up-from-sleep-mode#:~:text=Perform%20a%20hard%20reset%20by,the%20console%20to%20turn%20on.

Worth a try! Our Switch also charges fine in the car just using a long USB cable, so if you have one lying around, then it might be worth packing it if you get it going but don't have time to fully charge it before you leave.

Our Switch needs a high powered charger to charge from a plug, so my laptop USB-c charger works in a pinch too. If you think it's a charger problem, you might be able to try something else (although I always keep an eye on them charging in case they get hot).

We had to buy a new charger once, as the one it came with just stopped. Amazon Prime?
