My body now feels achy when I get out of bed

I'm late 40s, good enough health, on mirtazapine last 2.5 years, fairly fit and exercise regularly. I've noticed last couple of months when I get out of bed, my body feels achy, not pain. Is this just to be expected at my age now? I don't think it's the mirtazapine as I've been on them much longer.

Menopause?

isthewashingdryyet · 13/10/2023 21:17

Low vitamin D?

Thedm · 13/10/2023 21:18

Stupid point but have you got a winter duvet on? I get the same around this time of year and need to switch to a warmer duvet or I’m all stiff in the morning.

Menopause?

I have the mirena coil, so hard to know as periods really light last couple of years since I got it

When did you last replace your mattress? Getting a new one made a massive difference to my back pain.

Low vitamin D?

I take Vitamin D every day since it was very low about 6 years ago, but haven't had it checked since

Same with us

CrystalMaisie · 13/10/2023 21:23

Lack of oestrogen, peri menopause.

I found going onto to HRT made a huge difference to me. I was hobbling out to bed like John Wayne, the pain in my hips, wrists, knees and ankles was unreal then i started HRT about a year ago and the difference is amazing. I don’t quite spring out of bed but I hop up and I feel fine again

LizzieSiddal · 13/10/2023 21:29

I was like this, went on HRT and within a couple of months I was back to normal. It really did make an amazing difference.

HairyKitty · 13/10/2023 21:41

You can’t get bloods to see if you need hrt, it only depends on symptoms.

BettyBallerina · 13/10/2023 21:42

Normal IME I changed my mattress which helped.

Guiltyfeethavegotnorhythm0 · 13/10/2023 21:58

The advice is to change mattress after 10 yrs .

fetchacloth · 13/10/2023 22:05

Likely to be the menopause. I was the same until I went onto HRT.

TheSandgroper · 13/10/2023 22:37

More menopause here. Though I’m finding it doesn’t last forever. My good days are increasing.

Tinytigertail · 13/10/2023 22:41

I had this in perimenopause and felt like an 80yr old every morning..HRT made an almost instant difference to me.

menopausalmare · 13/10/2023 22:46

Yep, menopause. I'm the same and HRT hasn't fully helped. Ache all the time 😔

At late 40’s you will definitely be peri, no bloods needed to confirm that I’m afraid.

I’m a similar age and the thing that has improved the pain for me has been starting mobility exercises. If I miss a couple of days I’m back to being stiff and aching. I also saw this the other day. It is definitely very true!

I could have written this @LondonW

I'm not on meds though, I'm stiff and achy
