When will Israel invade

Viviennemary · 13/10/2023 14:11

It must be terrifying for these people in Gaza waiting this invasion or fleeing. I am not 100% against the invasion because something must be done or else these terrorists might strike again. But innocent people always suffer in war. Maybe the invasion is now inevitable.

Soon enough. Glad I live in this country. Really makes me count my blessings.

MatthewsMumFromTikTok · 13/10/2023 14:14

Well they've given 24 hours to move south

So I guess they will then invade

MatthewsMumFromTikTok · 13/10/2023 14:16

I wondered if they were actually going to start in the south....attack the people fleeing. Could they be that cruel?

Sort of 'herding' everyone together. It's just so awful to think of but could they? Would they?

@MatthewsMumFromTikTok , I think you are confused, that’s the sort of sick tactic the Hamas terrorists might employ.

hollyblueivy · 13/10/2023 14:18

Surely it is against international law for war that they invade and purposely kill innocent people?

zeddybrek · 13/10/2023 14:20

It is also against international law to commit a war crime such as collective punishment and that hasn't stopped them.

Not that I'm condoning anything but they actually give a 10 min warning before bombing any building until now.

verdantverdure · 13/10/2023 14:21

Whenever they like.

It hasn't stopped them and it also doesn't seem to have bothered the UK and USA - why aren't they calling Israel out?

hollyblueivy · 13/10/2023 14:24

@Bergmum what can you realistically do in 10 mins to save your life?

MatthewsMumFromTikTok · 13/10/2023 14:27

@Lovepeaceunderstanding

No I'm not confused! I know Hamas would do that

But I'm thinking Israel are taking full advantage and are planning something

MatthewsMumFromTikTok · 13/10/2023 14:29

I was watching a video from Al Jazeera of Israelis filling in the Palestinian water supply with concrete.....wandered into the comments section and just think now that Israel have a bigger agenda than just protecting themselves....much bigger

caringcarer · 13/10/2023 14:32

They have given notice to civilians to go to the South of Gaza as they will be bombing the North of Gaza prior to invading from the South. They have to stop Hezbollah invading from the North.

Ayedin · 13/10/2023 14:43

@MatthewsMumFromTikTok The stated aim of the Israeli govt is to destroy the network of underground tunnels Hamas use under civilian buildings in Gaza.

They are planning to destroy the ability of Hamas to transport, communicate and mobilise now and in the future.

It a targeted attack on infrastructure which is underground and underneath civilian buildings. There is therefore a significant risk to civilian life.

As the network of tunnels Hamas use are under the civilian buildings the Israeli govt have told Gazans to leave that area - letting them know in advance where they will be bombing. Gazans are on the move from North to South - about 10km.

Other countries are holding diplomatic talks with Israeli govt and Hamas separately. Some countries including the Uk have sent resources to stabilise the region.

Ayedin · 13/10/2023 14:46

There is then expected to be a ground offensive and an attempt to take out the leadership of Hamas

Why would they fill in a well? How would that give them a military advantage? It's more likely a fake well used to smuggle and store weapons.

verdantverdure · 13/10/2023 15:03

Ten minutes…tower block, old people, children, pets, no power so possibly no light and no lifts.

And then what? Where do they go? Where do they live now?

Somebody should start a thread.

“AIBU To think a ten minute warning is PLENTY of time to pack up your terrified children and dash down 14 floors then clamber over rubble to get to “safety” in order to watch your home destroyed by the Israeli government.”

MatthewsMumFromTikTok · 13/10/2023 15:05

@NotSuchASmugMarried as someone else posted above. To ruin the infrastructure....they have no water, the system is destroyed

Maby it is, maybe it isn't. It doesn't matter one jot.

People always trot out "international law" but it is utterly meaningless. There is no world police authority to enfore it and therefore countries can and do ignore it whenever they want.

Goodmirror · 13/10/2023 15:45

In

Viviennemary · 14/10/2023 09:59

I just heard the people of Gaza have till 4pm to evacuate. So they've extended it a bit.,it's grim. Maybe there will be a diplomatic solution. But they want to eradicate Hamas. Until they do that nobody can be safe.

The horrific atrocity last week against innocent people was absolutely abhorrent and incomprehensible and the parents must have been absolutely petrified, and the images can never be unseen .The retaliation against 1000s innocent people which is planned by a civilised government is actually even more beyond my comprehension!
As a Mother I cannot imagine the fear that these people are going through. Not being able to protect your own children has got to be the worst feeling ever.
