Hello MN!
After my career development chat with my boss it's clear that I'm kind of stuck. Things I like about my job:
Customer Facing
Solutioning
Commercial side of things
Things I don't necessarily like:
Heavy project management with all its artifacts
The rigour that the above can have
The blurred lines between similar roles and "turf wars"
Things I like overall:
Product knowledge (I love to go and break/test stuff)
Troubleshooting
Operations in general (as in finance, productivity, budget balancing)
Data analysis/reporting
It came clear that our team is small and I will never be promoted to a more managerial role which is what I'd enjoy the most. My years as a manager were quite happy ones. Plus I clash with some immediate colleagues so I think I'd definitely get pushback.
So I could stay at my current role and get PM certified (it doesn't feel me with joy, but means must).
Ask for a lateral move in a similar role on a different team. Or lateral move to a completely different team (seems unlikely).
Get a new job (in what I don't know! )
