Vinted: buyer says I've sent them something else, but I haven't!

Hoping someone can help me with this one, other online forums aren't looking very hopeful.

I am recently new to selling on Vinted but have about 10 reviews at 5*, mostly from selling, so I don't think I look like a scammer. Buyer has less reviews than me but all positive too.

Buyer has bought some small items off me, which I sent. Today parcel was marked as received. Now buyer has contacted me saying I have sent them something else - a totally random item that I don't even own. But that's besides the point as I know what I sent, it wasn't hard to mix up. What's going on here? What do I do? I will contact Vinted, but do I contact the courier too, or do they do that? Am I just going to have to lose the money? I'm quite mad if the items haven't arrived as I'd rather keep them than lose them, tbh!

Did you use inpost? Its a common problem!

Have they sent you photos of the packaging?

No, they have sent me a photo of the 'received wrong item'. I have asked for details of what it arrived in, but will ask for a photo as well.

I had this exact issue recently, was it sent with inpost? There seems to be a lot of mix ups with that at the moment - I think that's what happened with mine. I contacted vinted and it took a while for them to investigate but the buyer was refunded and I was fully compensated in the end!

It was with Evri Home
delivery....

OKAY scratch that: buyer has just messaged saying they've just now received the REAL items!

Thanks for all your help, I know it was a small transaction and I was getting in a tizzy over it. Paranoid about future sales, though...

PS No, I'm not sure how parcel was marked as delivered this morning yet only now received... Odd.

I've had odd messages from Evri before - like receiving a message that an item was returned by the recipient when I'd only sent it 12 hours before, so this was impossible. They have fortunately always shown up....

I guess there is basically no way of sending something reliably, unlike eBay where you can specific you're going to use Signed For etc.

I'll definitely stick to low cost items, I was considering selling some 'nicer' stuff on Vinted but am now wary.

I've just found this thread because I am currently experiencing this.

I sent a pair of Dune shoes and matching bag (so not cheap) sold for £10 on Vinted. I packaged everything well in tissue paper and put inside a big shoebox and well wrapped in an M&S parcel bag.

Stuck label on myself and sent via Evri in my local Co-op.

Buyer has contacted me to say she received a pair of jeans from ASOS. She's sent a photo and it's the packaging I used (not the shoe box) in the photo with the jeans. She says the bag was sealed closed.

She wants a refund.

I feel I am being scammed. I firmly believe she has received the bag and shoes because I know what I sent and she has the parcel bag. I'm furious.

I've messaged Vinted but heard nothing. The buyer has started a claim on there and I've been presented with two options automatically buy the app: ask buyer to return item (jeans) for a refund. Or refund without being returned the item.

I don't want a pair of jeans in exchange for an expensive bag/shoes set. I'm so upset because I could've donated the items to charity shop instead.

Any ideas?
