WhatsApp message disappeared

I had a conversation with someone and I know for a fact that they sent a message saying
“it was in the car, under the passenger seat”
There’s just no way I could imagine it as I pondered that sentence many times over the weekend and even had a discussion with my friend about it.

However, I look back and the message is no longer there. I thought, if you delete a message on WhatsApp, it leaves a placeholder “this message was deleted”

Is this not the case for business WhatsApp accounts?

It only leaves a placeholder for a short amount of time / till the other person next opens the chat

If you look back a week later, it will be gone, as though nothing was ever there?

Yes. If you've ever received that deleted message before, search your whatsap now for the word 'deleted' and you'll see you don't find it.

Maybe they sent it as a disappearing message

Disappearing messages is a feature of W/A.
One of my contacts uses it and I always miss the messages.
