Would you see Six the Musical with adult friends?

Just that really. Would we enjoy it? Or is it really just one for the kids and tween/teenagers?

DH bought me tickets, so we went together. Lots of adults and a very small amount of kids!

Covidiokilledtheradiostar · 12/10/2023 15:14

DH took me for my birthday. Hardly any kids a few teenagers but Liston groups of women and adults

Precipice · 12/10/2023 15:18

You should be able to find some clips or songs on youtube. Go give that a listen and see if it's something you like and think you'd like to see on stage.

I wouldn't go, but I wouldn't call it a kids' show either.

I can’t imagine it as a part of stag do but otherwise why not? There were a lot of adults when I went .
I think adults view it a bit differently, I appreciated language humour more whereas my teen was more into music, costumes and dances.

toastofthetown · 12/10/2023 15:21

I’ve seen it four times with four different groups and no children were in any of them. I think adults would get a lot more out of Six than children.

Justbetweenus · 12/10/2023 15:23

To me, it felt squarely aimed at kids and audience included plenty of kids when we saw it. It’s also pretty short. I wouldn’t recommend it to friends but it depends what you’re after.

cocksstrideintheevening · 12/10/2023 15:23

I'm taking my teens in a few weeks, but it's not one that I would have was aimed at kids as such.

ThirdDressStress · 12/10/2023 15:24

We went with a group including kids but the adults enjoyed it more. The kids didn't really get it.

Whataretheodds · 12/10/2023 15:24

I went with adult friends.

mrsnjw · 12/10/2023 15:26

I took my teenage daughter. I thought it was a bit shouty. Definitely not one I'd see with adults but my dd was desperate to see it.

Pallisers · 12/10/2023 15:30

We went to see it with another couple. I don't see it as being aimed at kids - the Catherine Howard piece was quite sad describing an abused and exploited young girl. I thought it was very clever. Also loved that it is short/one-act. most musicals drag on and on imo.

SpicedAppleAndFreshCider · 12/10/2023 15:32

I've been with women friends and we loved it. My DH wouldn't like it.

DragonFly98 · 12/10/2023 15:32

It's a terrible musical, the only adults I can see enjoying it are typical Prosecco huns.

lovelycosyslippers · 12/10/2023 15:33

Thanks everyone, this is really helpful.

I went at daughters request. It was beyond shit.

usernotfound0000 · 12/10/2023 15:34

I've seen it with DD and would happily see it with friends too. There was a few kids when we went mostly couples/groups of adults (heavily female). It is very good and I would recommend.

minipie · 12/10/2023 15:36

I went at the weekend with DDs to an afternoon performance- even with it being an afternoon rather than evening, audience was 75% adult women.

minipie · 12/10/2023 15:36

I really enjoyed it btw!

whosaidtha · 12/10/2023 15:38

It's one of my favourites. I would say that it was mostly adults. I don't really think it's appropriate for under 12s due to some of the sexual references.

I can see why you might think that if you knew nothing about the history and didn’t listen to the cleverness of the lyrics.

Exactly this. If you don’t understand the references…..

DuploTrain · 12/10/2023 15:42

It‘s great. I don’t think kids would appreciate it as much as adults. It’s very clever.

Pashazade · 12/10/2023 15:48

I've seen it three times and never with children, all women in their 40's!

Oopsididitagaintomorrow · 12/10/2023 15:52

I took my 12 year old DD....plenty of adult groups there as well, the row behind was about 8 or 9 women on a night out (wearing crowns might I add, they looked fab)

CocoPlum · 12/10/2023 15:52

I think children would appreciate it as much but in a different way. We had 3 generations seeing it together last time it toured and rhe youngest (9yo girl) was into the costumes, dances, concert atmosphere. The adults loved the depth to the songs, the way each queen is styled after different divas. I've been 3 times (once on first tour back in 2018) and although there are more younger children/teens in the audience each time, there're still a LOT of adults and you could definitely go as a group of adults and not feel weird.
