What on earth is a global day of jihad?

Apparently an ex Hamas leader has asked for this.

please tell me this means peaceful protests in city squares: not a day of violence

Somehow I don't think an ex Hamas leader is asking Muslims to give up the passions of the heart when he's talking about this day of jihad. Context is everything.

AngryBirdsNoMore · 12/10/2023 15:32

BethDuttonsTwin · 12/10/2023 15:23

Indeed. Only we all have to keep pretending it's all fine and not worry at all about undocumented migrant men pulling up on our beaches, lest we be appear to be bigoted/Islamophobic.

What does that have to do with Hamas?!

And if you think the Arab nations are going to pull a war together by tomorrow...you have never been to the Middle East!

You are not going to wake up to a global war tomorrow

PurpleChrayne · 12/10/2023 15:35

It means "kill the Jews."

I'm fucking terrified. Not sending my daughter to school tomorrow.

Boundoverbyacat · 12/10/2023 15:04

I just hope school doesn’t announce it last minute as always as I’ve not got a costume ready

This made me laugh in the middle of a very stressful time, so thank you!

MrsDanversChickenSandwich · 12/10/2023 15:37

Israeli Arabs are keeping their heads down (obviously, as they are far better off under Israeli rule than under some maniacal Islamic regime).

Both are shit options for them.

Of course not a global war, but there's obviously a drive to do something. Attacks? Violent protests? Who knows?

Meta123 · 12/10/2023 15:47

Jihad doesn't mean war it is related to everyday struggle. It can be a jihad for someone to get out of bed, a jihad for them to feed their kids and in this case a jihad to survive against the occupation.

Meta123 · 12/10/2023 15:52

The reports of this also are so misleading. It is by the daily mail lol. There are calling on Arab countries to protest. Jihad is just an Arabic word, they can't change the language just because the media report the word in a hateful way.

BethDuttonsTwin · 12/10/2023 15:55

What does that have to do with Hamas?!

The leader of Hamas is calling for global action from all Muslims in all countries. We don't know who we have here. It's ok to acknowledge that, you know? You don't have to pretend that all is well and "la la la there's nothing to worry about at all!"

Only decent response to this ridiculous thread

After the attacks at the weekend and the multiple demonstrations supporting said attacks, Jewish children being told not to wear their blazers to school for fear of drawing unwanted aggression, kosher restaurant being vandalised, Israel flag flying in solidarity being removed by a masked individual and the Palestine flag replacing it in Sheffield and now a call to arms for all Muslims wherever they may be, you really think this is a "ridiculous" concern and not worth discussing sensibly?

To some it's of no concern to them. They don't care at all. They consider talking about this ridiculous. They don't really need to join the thread though to say that, they could scroll past.

Fortunately, most Muslims are peaceful and would ignore him for the extremist that he is. There are others who would take this to the extreme though.

OneLittleFinger · 12/10/2023 16:19

I'm sure it's been called for before and it came to nothing. Don't let them win by being scared.

Can someone clarify when/what date this is being called for?

Or is it just in general?

x

tomorrow

Friday 13th October… so tomorrow.

im aware that jihad means “struggle”… but is also used in the media as being synonymous with terrorism. So, I was wondering what it means in this context

Israel is going to win this war, the only question is how many Palestinians are going to die in the meantime, Hamas don’t care how many die they are Shia sponsored by Iran, Palestinians are mostly Sunni

"Fortunately, most Muslims are peaceful and would ignore him for the extremist that he is."

In fairness and balance, for example most germans were peaceful in WW2 🙄
60 million people died, 14 million in concentration camps, 6 million of the jews.

Most Russians were, yet they killed 20 million, most Chinese were also peaceful however they went on to kill 70 million. Japan etc etc it goes on.

The peaceful majority are irrelevent.

caringcarer · 12/10/2023 17:05

It's disgraceful. Any people answering the call of an ex terrorist leader on an international Jihad day should be arrested. It's inviting violence.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 12/10/2023 17:05

I notice he's lived in Qatar since 2012. How convenient for him, he can call for whatever he likes and not have to worry at all about Israel dropping a bomb on his head.
