I live in a small town that doesn't have Ocado/Waitrose, only ASDA, Tesco, Sainsburys, Iceland for deliveries. Unfortunately for various reasons I'm having to rely more deliveries as I can't get to the stores and don't drive and so had an asda delivery pass for a year that runs out tomorrow and now have a tesco delivery pass started.
Both instore at ASDA and through the Asda deliveries that arrived I have found no end of problems with the best before dates over the last 6months. Instore I've even sometimes pointed out several items that have already run past their best before/eat by date if staff have been near over lots of departments, though the worst offenders have regularly been dairy, bakery, chilled cooked meats and ready meals. Some of them have been dated 3/4 days past their best before date just sat on the shelves still, not even in the reduced bit.
The deliveries were getting ridiculous, so much sent back or wasted (and refunded) because it was either dated the day of purchase, already out of date or a large amount of something to eat/drink within a couple of days (for example 3 2ltr cravendale milks all dated 2 days away, a cheese already 3 days out of date, bread to eat that day, visibly mouldy soft tomatoes and 2 500g coleslaws dated the next day all in the same delivery. There were others that were short dated but they were things I could freeze so it didn't really matter. I have now moved away from Asda to Tesco and hoping the same doesn't happen again.
Thankfully the first delivery from tesco all was good apart from soft and mouldy tomatoes again.
Has anyone else noticed this? I asked a friend down south and she said it was the same in her stores but all were affected there, not just asda.
