How early is too early to start decorating for Halloween?

I’ve bought some light up ghosts 👻 today lol. I’m tempted to put them up but it seems a little early.

I’m doing ours this weekend. Much later and what’s the point?

ComtesseDeSpair · 11/10/2023 18:42

Have them up all year round if you like. They’re decorations, the point is to enjoy them!

Muchtoomuchtodo · 11/10/2023 18:44

For some reason I only put our Halloween decorations out for the day itself.

Christmas lights go on on December 1st and stay on until 12th night!

I’ve seen several local houses fully decorated for Halloween already.

I've got loads of little pumpkins that I have dotted around the living room but ive got little graves and stuff for the garden that I haven't put up yet simply because I need to weed the garden and the kids round are here are mental and will fuck around with them

Tiredmum100 · 11/10/2023 18:44

Lots already up around by me. Crack on.

mynameiscalypso · 11/10/2023 18:46

I live in a very Halloween-y area and haven't seen any yet. I'm going to wait until the weekend after next so we have decorations up for half term. Until then, I'm basically in denial about it being mid-October.

TeamSleep · 11/10/2023 18:50

Six weeks before Halloween is too early (but that’s what we did as I was sick of the nagging from DC) I think anytime in October is fine but if it weren’t for nagging DC I’d put them up during the week leading up to Halloween and take them down the day after.

Acco · 11/10/2023 18:53

I’m thinking of putting them up perhaps the weekend. That’s another question! When do you take them down? Straight after or leave them up til Bonfire Night as my neighbour does? I personally do November 3 after All Souls Day.

Literally do whatever you wish 😊 I'm not a big fan of Halloween but I've seen plenty of houses decorated already. I like the cute stuff, not the excessively gory stuff.

Thequeenofwishfulthinking · 11/10/2023 18:58

There are lots of houses that I’ve noticed have decorations up round here.
We put ours up on Monday just gone.

SunflowerBlues · 11/10/2023 19:07

Our neighbour & family had theirs up, covering the front garden, since the beginning of September 😡

Luana1 · 11/10/2023 19:10

We put up the Halloween door wreath and window stickers on October 1st :)

EfficientlyDecluttering · 11/10/2023 19:11

We’ve got pumpkin bunting in the window but none of the rest of it yet. We always used to do it straight after school on the 31st, before dressing the DCs up to go out, taking it down the next day but DD has asked for them to go up earlier this year and I work full days now so I think we’ll do it at the weekend and just add carved pumpkins nearer the time.

BlueYonder57 · 11/10/2023 19:17

30th...

BettyOBarley · 11/10/2023 19:20

Done on the 31st for me 🤣
Not a massive fan of Halloween personally, but I've seen a few houses with them up for a while.

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 11/10/2023 19:36

We're going with Friday the 13th this year, just because it seems appropriate.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 11/10/2023 21:00

I don't normally bother until a couple of days before but DD begged me so we have put a few things up and will probably do the rest this weekend
