Type 2 diabetes panic

I am losing my mind with worry; any advice / input will be gratefully received...

I am ttc so have been noticing everything more, including the smell of my wee as that can be an early sign of conception and certainly was when I was pregnant last time. However even when my period has arrived my wee still smells weird, not unpleasant kind of like pear drops or just generally quite sweet. Now I have read that this can be a sign of diabetes...
I have also had cystitis several times in the last few months and apparently that can be a sign also. I really don't want to go to my GP as I have long-standing MH issues and they aren't especially sympathetic at my surgery; I think if I go they will either treat me like a hypochondriac or just be generally unkind to me.

I'm also falling asleep during the day when my kids are at school on my non-working day which is unlike me.

Could there be any other reason causing this? Thanks

If you suspect you have type 2 diabetes and want to rule it out then ultimately you have two choices - speak to the GP about your symptoms and request a test or have a test done privately.

If you have cystitis symptoms might the odour to the urine not just be linked to this - an infection would cause an odour.

I know it can be difficult advocating for yourself at the GP but ultimately that really is the only way to get a diagnosis, it doesn't really matter what people on here think it sounds like or what Dr Google said - The GP surgery can test your urine and run bloods for both infection and T2D and give a definitive answer.

Thanks for your reply; think I will do a private test. Are these available to buy online? There seems to be loads to choose from!

Are you taking any vitamins? I take Well Woman sometimes and it makes my wee smell.

Your mw should be able to test your wee and request hba1c test with your next blood test

Sorry - I'm not actually pregnant, I am just trying to be!

@ferrousfumarate don't take vitamins apart from folic acid, I hope that's it

I’m a doctor. If you are diabetic you need to know this before conceiving, don’t put it off, call the Gp in the morning

There is folic acid in my Well Woman tablets so it could be that, but definitely get proper medical advice especially if you have other common diabetes symptoms like frequent urination, an unquenchable thirst, thrush, or sight problems. Don't leave it! My GP surgery was also horrible to me but once I came in with diabetes symptoms and they were actually nice and said it was good that I went in, even though tests confirmed my dry mouth was just anxiety and not diabetes.
