W made a sausage and pasta bake with a tomato sauce yesterday (Monday). It was cooled and then put in the fridge. Would you eat it on Thursday evening?

It'll be fine after 3 days. Just heat it thoroughly.

Twospaniels · 10/10/2023 16:01

Thanks - daughter is moving house, so it’s so they have a meal they can just bung in the oven at the end of moving day.

I'm really fussy, wouldn't touch it past today myself but my partner would still be scoffing it on a Friday!

No I don't think so. If I make something I'd eat it same day or day after, not 3 days. It would probably be alright though, I just personally wouldn't.

BarbaraofSeville · 10/10/2023 16:13

Of course it will be fine, why on earth not?

usernother · 10/10/2023 16:17

I'd be eating it until it started smelling. Even if that was next week.

Frenchfancy · 10/10/2023 16:18

Yes, I'd still eat it on Saturday.

persisted · 10/10/2023 16:18

Wouldn’t occur to me not to eat it, it’ll be fine.

PinkRoses1245 · 10/10/2023 16:19

I’d eat until whenever as long as smelt and looked fine. I am so blasé about food dates , it’s all a scam anyway to get you to buy more

andtheworldrollson · 10/10/2023 16:42

Can you throw it in the freezer till Thursday morning ?

43ontherocksporfavor · 10/10/2023 16:44

Absolutely. You could freeze it and take it out of the freezer on Thursday morning so by evening it would be ok to put in oven.

Tonight I’m eating leftover curry I made on Saturday night.

DurhamDurham · 10/10/2023 16:47

I just couldn't bring myself to eat food on a Thursday which I knew had been cooked on the Monday. Im really fussy with food and once I've decided that it's not ok, nothing will convince me otherwise. My husband will eat food that old, he gets all the leftovers in our house.

43ontherocksporfavor · 10/10/2023 16:52

@DurhamDurham you're missing out. Usually it tastes better.

StuntNun · 10/10/2023 20:07

Yes. Three days is fine. I'd probably still eat it on day four to be honest.

YesThatsATurdOnTheRug · 10/10/2023 20:08

I keep bolognaise or similar in the fridge for a week and it's always been fine.

DiscoBeat · 10/10/2023 20:17

It will be fine as long as it went straight in the fridge and will be heated up thoroughly.

Good solution

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 10/10/2023 20:28

I'd put it in the freezer now if I knew I wouldn't be eating it until Thursday

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 10/10/2023 20:28

It would depend on what the use by date in the sausages was . Normally I would say 3 days but not with yellow sticker sausages

converseandjeans · 10/10/2023 23:30

Depends when sausages go out of date. It's not a meal I would enjoy 3 days later personally but responses are mixed.

margotrose · 10/10/2023 23:51

It'll be fine. Leftovers last 4-5 days in the fridge here!
