Hammersmith shopping and eating

I'm going to an event at the Hammersmith Apollo next Monday and staying locally. Where is the best area nearby for a mooch round the shops? I know Westfield isn't too far away. A mix of independent and high street would be nice - clothes, housewares etc. Also can anyone recommend a place for brunch the next day?

Go down to Clapham Junction on the Overground and go to Northcote Road

Just behind the Apollo is the river Thames/Fulham Reach where there are some great upmarket but replace and affordable riverfront restaurants. Great atmosphere.
Walk underneath Hammersmith Bridge along the riverside for a pub crawl (lots of really nice pubs on the river in Hammersmith near Furnival Gardens: The Black Lion, The Old Ship, The Dove).

Westfield is easy to get to. A stone’s throw from H’smith.
Jump on the Hammersmith and City or Circle Line from Hammersmith station and exit Wood Lane which lands you there in front of the shopping centre. Great eating and shopping at Westfield. Everything is there.

Alternatively, take the 27 bus from Hammersmith station to High Street Kensington for more food shopping and eating (really nice places to eat around there).

King Street in Hammersmith, near Ravenscourt Park, has some wonderful restaurants and it’s the nicer part of Hammersmith if you fancy a local wander.

I’m a local so ask me anything.

Replace? 🤪 Im not sure what I was trying to say there but it wasn’t replace! 😆

Hammersmith isn't on the Overground? 15 minute walk to olympia station but Northcote Road isn't worth the trip IMO.

Westfield is close but it's just a massive mall, could be anywhere in the world. Chiswick is nice (walk along the river or use a Lime bike to get there as the buses can be slow).

King Street is pretty much restaurants all the way to Chiswick. I've never seen so many all in one place.

Hammersmith have their own little shopping mall with mini Ikea

3peassuit · 10/10/2023 09:48

I second Chiswick. More independent shops and and restaurants.

Chiswick High Street plus the side road down to Turnham Green Station is much nicer than Hammersmith and is about 10 mins away by bus. It has a mix of independent shops, cafes and excellent charity shops

Hello Fellow Hammersmither!

@squashyhat

  • *There is Wagamama in Shepherds Bush Road - the Hammersmith end. Bills is good for Brunch. Sorry hopeless at directions but it is round the corner from Hammersmith & City line. Chiswick High Street as someone else mentioned is very good. It has the Fabulous Fouberts. I thought they only did ice cream but they also do pasta dishes. Some good shops there. Hammersmith itself ain't so good for shops though they have Primark, Marks,, H&M, Ikea, Lidl.

Lots of restaurants inside Westfield and just outside - burgers/Italian/Indonesian/Thai etc etc

Thanks all for your suggestions
