Car insurance for teens / young adults

How’s the best way to do it.

i have me as owner, that’s fine

DS1 age 21 as main driver
DD 17 as second driver.

over the year they probably drive the car 50/50. She drives it mainly when he’s at uni and he gets priority when he’s home.

if I put her as main driver it doubles the insurance. There no option for equal use?

Pretty sure that if you're naming one of them as the main driver, their name should be on the V5

You can't insure a vehicle you don't have a financial interest in (unless it's a spouse)

I'm happy to be told that I'm wrong but that's what I remember from working in insurance many moons ago

Doesn’t seem to be a problem at all on any of the comparison sites. In fact I just checked and the owner and the main driver absolutely do not need to be the same person
