TMI sorry but I got a dodgy stomach last Tuesday, the day before going on holiday. It lasted for 24 hours. The last time I went to the toilet was last Wednesday so 5 days ago.

For the first few days I didn't think anything of it because I thought I've probably cleared two or three days worth in one day anyway. However we are in Italy and for the past 5 days I've been eating pizza and pasta and none of it has come out! I had movicol with me but only 4 sachets and that hasn't done anything.

I'm not in pain but I do feel like I need the toilet. It just won't come out. The feeling is horrible of constantly needing the toilet and not being able to do anything. Should I take something or could it wait until Thursday when I'm home? I don't want it to start hurting as we are staying with my partner's family tomorrow in Naples who I have never met before and I really don't want to have belly ache all day. Not sure what to do

Also an aside, and slightly off topic, but fresh Italian pasta is high fibre.... not crap.... just saying.

Sodium docusate/DulcoEase - absolute lifesaver and doesn’t cause stomach cramps or that horrible urgency so you’ll still be ok to sightsee etc. Wish I’d discovered it sooner

An alternative is coffee and a cig first thing in the morning 🤣. I rarely smoke nowadays but if I'm a little bit blocked ill ask the neighbour for a fag and make myself a coffee, stuff happens within 2 sips and before ive even stubbed the cig out 😬

This is why I think it's 80% in the mind! The coffee and cig excite you. For me it's browsing eBay
