Where do you get nice, good quality wrapping paper from?

I'm at the end of my tether with Sainsbury's paper - thin, useless, keeps ripping. GAH.

I used to buy from paperchase but I think they're closed down now? Either way I haven't seen anything decent in ages.

TK Maxx do some decent thick rolls, and Costco do good wrapping paper too

muddyford · 09/10/2023 12:34

I bought some in Marks and Spencer after Christmas, when it was reduced.

Cookerhood · 09/10/2023 12:35

John Lewis, but very expensive. I second TK Maxx, I got a huge roll of Christmas paper there 2 years ago - it's done 2 Christmases & I reckon it will do this year too. Really thick & good quality. Also recyclable as it's brown paper with printing on it. A lot of the Costco ones are (or at least used to be) not recyclable.

Waterstones

minipie · 09/10/2023 12:36

Waitrose/John Lewis range is decent quality IME

Desecratedcoconut · 09/10/2023 12:40

Sorry for barging in op, could anyone tell me what the quality next wrapping paper is like? I've seen some nice designs but I can't abide paper thin stuff that is always in danger of ripping as you wrap.

Dora26 · 09/10/2023 12:41

M and S is good quality

purplecorkheart · 09/10/2023 12:41

Marks and Spencer used to be my go to for presents but now I go for old fashioned brown paper with ribbon and little wooden Christmas decorations to make them look festive.

AGAbaker · 09/10/2023 12:44

Booths if you're up north 😊

IFeelSoSoSad · 09/10/2023 12:47

Costco is thick and glossy

Stephisaur · 09/10/2023 14:37

John Lewis do good paper.

Costco is my favourite though - MASSIVE rolls, usually double sided.

smileannie · 09/10/2023 14:40

I got a Costco multi pack of Xmas wrapping paper which was great quality and lasted for years for what I would say is average amount of gifts.

HelebethH · 09/10/2023 15:49

Whistlefish. Lovely quality. If you don't have a shop near their website very often had offers

longtompot · 09/10/2023 16:03

TKMaxx/Homesense have really good quality wrapping paper, £3.99 for a roll

Millybob · 09/10/2023 16:06

Choosing Keeping in Covent Garden. But it's £60 a roll. Would need to be a very good present and I couldn't bear to see it being ripped off with abandon!

HedgehogB · 09/10/2023 16:07

Cox & Cox - although it’s very expensive, so I wait until the sale in January and then keep it for 11 months ….

£60?! For the wrapping paper?! 😱😱
Reminds me of the 6 crackers in Harrods, for £900!!

BlueKaftan · 09/10/2023 16:33

Cox and Cox, Graham & Greene

I’ve jumped on the brown paper with fancy tags + ribbons band wagon now the DC are older, feels much more special and looks nicer in my opinion. I buy from M&S or Paperchase (now called Mooch I think)

Cheerfulcharlie · 09/10/2023 16:43

This is excellent quality - just the right stiffness to get good creases - plus it's reversible so you can do some really great wrapping techniques with it.

I have always admired lovely thick wrapping paper .
I splurged a while back on some sheets of top quality William Morris paper only to find it too thick for the job. It didn’t fold well into nice sharp corners and I had to use lots if tape as the folds kept popping up. The end result looked a bit clumsy.
I know what you mean about the horrors of flimsy paper that tears before the job is done.
I like the squares on the reverse of the M&S paper to keep my cutting neat.
I usually like IKEA’s Christmas wrapping paper designs and the quality is OK for the price.
They often have traditional designs on a brown paper background which I assume is better for recycling purposes.

Whistlefish - based in Cornwall but an online presence. Lovely patterns and thick good quality. Not sure if offers on at the moment - their cards are brilliant too.

TooOldForThisNonsense · 09/10/2023 17:36

Used to be M and S but theirs was shit last year
