Is burning incense bad for you?

I love to burn an incense stick after dinner on an evening but a friend has just told me it's as bad for me as smoking. Looked on Google but contradictory information.

Does anyone know whether it's safe or not?

Brain says "of course it's bad for you, you're inhaling smoke" but then I can't understand why they don't come with health warnings?

Can’t get excited about it - we breathe in SO much pollution every day in cities. An incense stick isn’t going to touch the sides

Like asthma and cancer, incense smoke has also been associated with increased risk of heart disease. In a study of over 60,000 Singapore citizens, long-term exposure to incense in the home was linked to cardiovascular-caused deaths. Researchers think this may be tied into the smoke's effects on metabolism as well.29 Nov 2018
