Nit treatment and conditioner

Aargh, so embarrassing. DD is 13 and not had nits since Y3, which I treated with nitty gritty comb and lots of conditioner.

We've had a couple of messages from school saying to check the girls hair, but I never noticed anything, until I noticed her scratching her hair in the theatre.

Yesterday I combed her hair through after she washed it and found live lice!

Her hair is far too long and thick to comb through with conditioner every day, so I bought Full Marks.

It says after leaving for the 5 minutes to wash out with a non-conditioning shampoo and conditioner is not necessary. I also read online that conditioner should be avoided for 10 days after treatment.

I've also bought Child's Farm leave in conditioner with tea tree (this was all that was available to arrive in one day on Amazon), as extra prevention and because her hair is so long, curly and prone to tangling.

Is it really not wise to use conditioner/leave in conditioner? As far as I can see the treatment dissolves the outer laying of the lice, causing dehydration, so I can't see how using conditioner after would affect it?

Also is it better to leave on for longer than the time stated to ensure maximum success?
