Would you complain about these flowers?

My DH ordered some flowers online for his grandmother in Germany. I have attached pics of what was promised and what she actually received.

Would you be happy with this or complain? DH feels it’s not worth it, I think the clashing colours (red instead of pink roses) and very few flowers bulked out with lots of green filler are a bit cheeky.

I agree with you. That green filler stuff overwhelms the flowers and they do clash. You can never trim the stems of that woody stuff properly either. I don’t think it’s good enough.

AReallyOldBobTheBuilderFlannel · 08/10/2023 10:00

It will say somewhere colours subject to availability and if you count the flowers it is as per advert, they are just in a smaller necked vase/tied and taken side on rather than from above.

Overthebow · 08/10/2023 10:02

Yes that really isn’t good. There’s so much greenery and hardly any flowers compared to the photo.

YABU to support the flower industry, one of the most environmentally damaging and abusive in terms of human rights in the world

Hi @CokeZeroForBreakfast
I would complain. I had a similar situation, some of the flowers were wilted. I got a voucher for my next purchase.

Yes, I would.
They look wilted and overfilled with cheap greenery.
Which company? I complained about a plant from Interflora that arrived half dead and got a refund.

Blackbyrd · 08/10/2023 10:08

Those look fine. You should see the multiple manky boxes of carnations that are delivered round here daily. Is the recipient happy with her gift? Surely that is the main thing as long as they were reasonably priced

theduchessofspork · 08/10/2023 10:08

Complain - bit about too much greenery rather than the colours, which they can always put down to availability

Butterfly44 · 08/10/2023 10:17

Does the add say how many stems? Does the ad photo show a "large" bouquet- some have options of size but photo shown is largest, so not what one may order.
If it's as is then yes, seems like too few stems, and more green leaves

Agree with this

I’ve just had a look at the T&Cs and funnily enough can’t see anything about colours or types of flowers being subject to availability. It’s also meant to be exactly the same vase as in the picture (came free with the flowers). Now I get that stock will vary somewhat, but you’d think they’d be able to at least choose colours that don’t clash.

Is the recipient happy with her gift? Surely that is the main thing as long as they were reasonably priced.

I have no idea! She called to thank DH but would be far too polite to say anything negative about a gift (unless the flowers were completely wilted, maybe).

Does the add say how many stems? Does the ad photo show a "large" bouquet- some have options of size but photo shown is largest, so not what one may order.

The ad doesn’t say how many stems, just states a total diameter of around 30 cm. No different size options.

Thanks everyone, I'll send them an email and see what they say.

At least she got them. I ordered online through an international delivery company . Big mistake.
They gave me a voucher but I would have had to spend the same again .
I think it looks nice.
Some M&S ones don’t look as good either when they arrive.
I like purple and red.

GoodlifeGlow · 08/10/2023 10:26

For the photos they pull all the flowers to the front of the vase in reality they will be spread out around the vase and the foliage is the filler. I think it looks reasonable when you consider that.

personally I love massive full bouquets packed with flowers. They are absolutely extortionate to buy so I grow my own.

BadSkiingMum · 08/10/2023 10:27

Is it possible that some of the flowers are still in bud?

In the photo everything is in full bloom and also tightly bunched together.

daewin · 08/10/2023 10:49

All the types of flowers advertised are present in the second photo but some look to still be in bud. I don't think you have good grounds to complain.

I also agree about the environmental impact of the cut flower industry.

ThirtyThrillionThreeTrees · 08/10/2023 10:52

In the picture there are 4 pink roses, in reality I can only see 3 red ones.

4 of the large pink flowers, 2 in the picture.
None of the smaller dark pink flowers are at.
The thistle type flowers also seem fewer in reality etc.

The florist will work on the stems as customer will display it differently.

It does look short and also the red looks awful, white would have been a better substitute.

SheerLucks · 08/10/2023 11:24

Yes definitely not like the picture. Very cheeky of them.
