Over bed storage - yay or nay?

Currently redoing bedroom, and can’t decide whether to just get new bedside tables or over bed storage (so up each side of the bed and over the top). Would be handy extra space for stuff like blankets, rolls of wrapping paper, etc. but that stuff is currently housed so technically we don’t need extra storage. Not sure if we’re missing a truck by not getting it though.

Any experiences or opinions?

I wouldn’t. We had that two houses ago and it felt a bit oppressive.

MyAnacondaMight · 08/10/2023 09:57

It’s a difficult look to pull off. If you don’t absolutely need the storage then don’t do it.

It makes the room feel much, much smaller than it is. Personally I'm not a fan even though it's useful. I'd get storage that goes underneath beds instead.

I don't like it,it reminds me of caravans.

No, don’t get it if you don’t absolutely need to. Horrible to lie in bed feeling surrounded by “stuff”.

LittleMonks11 · 08/10/2023 10:12

Just no

JohnNolan · 08/10/2023 10:17

I don't like it - very old fashioned & depressing to look at.

If you need storage, get some under the bed

Thanks all. Helped me to decide! Kept changing my mind.

Just don't let my dad put it up <rubs scar on head from 1982>

No, no and no. I agree with all PPs: it looks old fashioned, makes room smaller and it feels like you in confined space.
Bed with storage under is much better.

BuffaloBelinda · 08/10/2023 12:23

I'd rather not have extra blankets or wrapping paper than have them stored over my head whilst I sleep.

I think I see how this story ends 🤣

Dated.

CheshireCat1 · 08/10/2023 13:06

We removed something similar when we first moved into our house, couldn’t sleep with it hanging over us.

Tilyoufindyourdream · 08/10/2023 16:30

Looks pretty unanimous then! Will def avoid.

It's very 1980s and even when buying new furniture back then, I thought it looked claustrophic and did not want it. i'm surprised you can still buy it.

Very 1970s
