Holiday to Jordan in 10 days

I am due to travel to Jordan in 10 days and have woken to the news of war in Israel. Jordan being on the border to Israel has me concerned. Does anyone know whether travel to Jordan has previously been impacted when things are unsettled in Israel. I can only get my money back if holiday is cancelled by tour operator.

I'd still go. Jordan is a long way from Gaza. Keep an eye on the news and the foreign office website

I'd follow foreign office guidance. Jordan is pretty safe generally.

Awww thanks for the reassurance. I’m desperate to go but don’t want the holiday to feel unsafe. Let’s hope things don’t deteriorate.

No need for panic, it'll be fine.

The Palestinians won't bomb Jordan, as many Palestinians live there.

Also, Israel won't bomb Jordan. Jordan signed a peace treaty with Israel.

Enjoy your holiday and have fun!

@Thanksforasking78 , did you go? We are due to go in a couple of weeks and would love to hear how your trip is/was

Thanksforasking78 · 18/10/2023 13:37

I decided not to go. I have lost my money but can live with that.

I wouldn’t have relaxed and anxiety would have been high. I was due to spend 15km from the Israeli border for 3 nights and I just couldn’t cope with being a stray missile strike away. I was also concerned with how long it took the government to sort repatriation flights from Israel that I wasn’t prepared to take the risk.

everyone’s tolerance levels for risk are different and you may well go and have a fab time. Personally it was not for me.

Sounds a wise move to me. We can all advise that we would go and it will all be ok, but none of us can guarantee anything. I hope you're ok, and I for one am glad for you. The stress of it doesn't seem worth it.

Sounds like a wise move

The FO are saying it’s safe to go, so why wouldn’t you ?
