Late 30s and suddenly sex mad

Nc for this. I just turned 39 and my sex drive has increased from once in a blue moon to wanting it once a day or more, plus masturbation. Married with a 3 year old DC. I recently had a late miscarriage at 20 weeks (4 months ago) so I'm surprised I feel like this. Has anyone else experienced similar in their 30s? How did you partner react? Is it my bodies last ditch attempt at a drive to procreate as I'm getting older?

Yep, it’s that last hurrah before peri menopause kicks in. Enjoy it.

hellohellothere · 07/10/2023 11:16

@DustyLee123 how long does it usually last? Not that I mind at the moment. It's just out of character for me.

Sounds like you might be about to start peri menopause. It's a bit early so consider HRT for bone strength in a few years time. Lasted a few years for me - it's fun.

hellohellothere · 07/10/2023 11:34

@PosterBoy I'll see what happens I guess. I have high blood pressure and still recovering from my miscarriage so HRT probably isn't a good idea yet

@PosterBoy I hope it lasts a long time too!

Perhaps it could be that I'm no longer on the contraceptive pill? I've been on one or another since I was a teenager but not sure if that has such a drastic effect.

I could be a mix of both. When I came off the pill my sex drive went through the roof. Now I think in
M going through peri, the same has happened!Enjoy 😁

gotomomo · 07/10/2023 12:03

I've been like this since early 40's no let up yet, thank goodness for little blue pills Grin

CornedBeef451 · 07/10/2023 12:09

I had the same thing around the time I turned 40. It might be finally wearing off as I am approaching 47. It's a bit of a relief to be honest!

hellohellothere · 07/10/2023 12:13

I'm hoping it's not peri at my age tbh as we hoped for another child, but aren't trying right now. But there's not much I can do about it. I assume I could get pregnant until menopause and I got pregnant very quickly earlier this year

Knivesandforks · 07/10/2023 12:15

Sounds like peri!

Summerhillsquare · 07/10/2023 12:16

Your body is trying to assist you with a last baby. Menopause is next.

hellohellothere · 07/10/2023 12:19

Oh I don't want to go into menopause yet 😢 after 2 miscarriages this isn't want I wanted to hear but I assume the process takes a long time anyway.

mindutopia · 07/10/2023 13:46

Any chance you’re pregnant?

hellohellothere · 07/10/2023 13:52

@mindutopia not likely as we're using condoms and up until last week we hadn't had sex as much as this. I did feel like this my last pregnancy though

rantinglunatic · 07/10/2023 14:13

Got this in my late 40s/early 50s just prior to menopause. So maybe you have a decade more of this!

JenniferD582 · 05/04/2024 01:00

I have also been feeling like this. It’s fun but also inconvenient and frustrating as I’m single lol. Super crazy hormones. Almost feel like a teenage boy or something

SwordToFlamethrower · 05/04/2024 01:02

Have you tested?

JenniferD582 · 05/04/2024 01:04

I think she was saying they used condoms but of course there is always a chance

hellohellothere · 06/04/2024 19:44

No I definitely wasn't pregnant as was using condoms but I am now (12 weeks). I have my scan on Monday. So nowhere near menopause! My mum went into menopause in her late 50s.
Understandably terrified after what happened last year and it's a high risk pregnancy so don't know what's going to happen. I feel like I'm jinxing it by admitting it to myself will just have to see how things go. Haven't told anyone else apart from DH yet.
