I just bought a new (used) car from a dealership garage and had a 150 mile journey home. It wasn’t cheap, circa £15k.
It started making noises on the m25 and I made it about 100 miles in all but it got so bad I stopped and phoned roadside assistance.
They took a quick look and told me one of the wheels was just about to fall off. None of the nuts were done up properly on it and it could have come off at any time. The mechanic told me I was lucky to be alive.
I realise as a driver I’m responsible for the roadworthiness of my car but I don’t know what exactly I should/could ask of the garage. I’m not usually one to complain but I’m just horrified at what could have happened.
